Here are 10 tips that I learned from my weekend at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.
1. Avoid the weekends – If you are at Disney World during the week, opt to visit Epcot on those days instead. The weekends draw the Annual Passholders.
2. Eat a base – Do not start with sweets on your adventure. Pick the hearty foods first. You can alternate between hearty and sweet.
3. Don’t try to do it all in one day – Split your visits to Food & Wine over multiple days. It will take 3 days or so to visit all the booths. Plan an afternoon/evening at Food and Wine and spend your mornings in other parks.
4. Get a food tray – Epcot has sturdy plastic trays that are made for a plate of food and a glass of wine. They run $6.99. Seating is not plentiful at the booths, so this will definitely come in handy.
5. Don’t be afraid of the lines – The booth lines do look pretty long, but they don’t actually take very long to get through. So hesitate to jump in line!
6. Don’t forget the free water – While the booths do not have free water, the counter service restaurants do. Don’t forget to drop in them to get your free water as needed.
7. Check out the merch – There are a ton of new merchandise for Food and Wine this year. You can find it in the Festival Center, but it is also in Mousegears and the World Traveler store. And throughout Food and Wine there are merchandise booths set up.
8. Make sure you use your Passport – You can pick up a Passport at most food booths and festival shops. This passport tells you what food offerings there are at all the booths. Use the provided stickers to mark off booths as you visit them.
9. Play the Ratatouille Hide and Squeak game – Purchase a map for $6.99. After you find him in all the countries, you can turn it in for a pin. How fun for the kids!
10. Freebies for Annual Passholders – If you are an AP, don’t forget to stop by the Festival Center. You can pick up a free Mickey Mouse magnet (one per AP holder) and on your 4th visit you can get a FREE cutting board. Your entries to Food and Wine are calculated at the turnstile so no need to visit the Festival Center on each visit.
