Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios at Disney World opened for guests Summer 2018. Since then guests have been enjoying their time playing in Andy’s backyard. Here are 10 Tips To Enjoy Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios To The Fullest.
1. Extra Magic Hours
Extra Magic Hours is a perk for guests staying on-site, at a Disney World Resort, only. It allows either early entry prior to park opening, or staying late after parking closing. Each day a different park will be offered for morning or evening. Arrive prior to extra magic hours in the morning to be among the first guests to enter, and then head straight to one choice attraction. Perfect for riding Slinky Dog Dash with little to no wait. If there are 2 hours for an evening Extra magic hours, the 2nd hour will be emptier.
Check here for current listed Extra Magic Hours.
2. Sheriff Woody
Sheriff Woody and a tip of hit hat is at the entrance to great guests, standing at 20 feet. Also, an impressive 4 foot tall yo-yo above a stack of blocks. Pause to pose for a picture at the entrance. Standing in front of Sheriff Woody and the giant toys he is leaning on make guests feel shrunken to the size of a toy starting at the entrance and beyond.
3. Ride The Attractions
Toy Story Land is home to 3 attractions. Learn more about each, there is truly something for everyone in this land. Note that all the land attractions offer nearby stroller parking.
- Alien Swirling Saucers – Guests 32″ or taller will board a toy rocket on Alien Swirling Saucers. There are a total of 22 toy rocket ships on this attraction.
- Slinky Dog Dash – Guests 38″ or taller can ride this family-friendly roller coaster. Ride in the coils of Slinky.
- Toy Story Mania – Guests of any height may enjoy this 4D shooting game, take aim and go for high-score.
4. Browse The Merchandise
Take home a keepsake to remember your Toy Story Land visit by. There are 2 merchandise carts to browse that blend in with the theme of the land, one in the shape of a dump truck, the other a toy camper. Merchandise Carts carry pins, accessories, toys and more. Two of the toys offered include mini-replicas of Slinky Dog Dash and the toy rocket with Alien from Alien Swirling Saucers. Guests can also visit Beverly Sunset on Sunset Boulevard for more Toy Story Land logo merchandise.
5. Be Prepared
Be prepared to explore Toy Story Land with comfortable, previously worn shoes/sneakers. Wear a hat or apply enough sunscreen and SPF lip balm. Especially in Toy Story Land, as it offers little shade. There is one Quick Service restaurant, however it does not offer indoor seating. There are 2 merchandise carts, however they do not offer the break of stepping into an air conditioned shop. Toy Story Mania is the only fully indoor attraction. There are few trees to block shade. Therefore, prepare for Toy Story Land with comfortable shoes, sunscreen and summer hats.
6. Take a Snack Break
The land has a quick service eatery named Woody’s Lunch Box. It is perfect for a quick refuel, or a complete meal. The signature treats, Raspberry Lunch Box Tart and Chocolate-Hazelnut Lunch Box Tart come recommended for a quick break. Also enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner.
7. Choose Your Fastpass+ Wisely
Fastpass+ is a great way to skip long lines for select attractions and experiences. Make your Fastpass+ prior to your vacation, at 60 days out (Disney Resort guests) and 30 days out (those staying off-site). Know the Tiers of Hollywood Studios and choose wisely.
Tier 1 (choose 1): Alien Swirling Saucers, Slinky Dog Dash and Toy Story Mania
Tier 2 (choose 2): Beauty and the Beast live on stage, Fantasmic!, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!, MuppetVision 3D, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Tower of Terror or Voyage of the Little Mermaid.
Note that all of the Toy Story Land attractions fall under Tier 1, which only one choice allowed in advance. I recommend Slinky Dog Dash followed by Toy Story Mania for top choice.
Pro Tip: Know that once your advanced Fastpass+ are used for the day, guests are allowed unlimited Fastpass+ one at a time. Therefore, as soon as you have scanned your MagicBand and are in line for your last attraction, use the My Disney Experience app to look for next Fastpass+. For this reason, I do not recommended using a Fastpass+ for Fanstasmic, as the evening show ties up your ability to book more for the day.
8. Meet Characters
It is not Disney without Characters and Toy Story Land does not disappoint. Guests can meet & greet with Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl throughout the day. Furthermore, stop to play games with Sarge & his Green Army Patrol or to watch the Green Army Drum Corps, marching through the land throughout the day with a percussion show.
9. Spot The Larger Than Life Props
The theming of Toy Story Land is guests are exploring Andy’s backyard and are shrunk down to the size of a toy. Therefore, there are larger than life props scattered throughout the land. It can become a fun scavenger hunt to notice all the familiar toys, on a large scale. In fact, there are more than 400 toy blocks in the land.
10. Enjoy Holiday Happenings
From November 9 2018 through the holidays 2018 guests will enjoy special happenings at Toy Story Land. This is not guaranteed to return for 2019 and beyond (fingers crossed it does). 2018 Guests will enjoy Holiday character greetings in holiday attire, Holiday Décor including large cranberry & popcorn garland, Green Alien ornaments and more, Holiday Music or Audio on land’s attractions such sleigh bells on Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers to offer 2 holiday tracks & lighting.
