Here’s a great tip on how to save on souvenirs for Walt Disney World. Before we leave for our Walt Disney World trip, I will head to the local Dollar Tree to see what kind of Disney themed goodies I can find. My kids love anything Disney and they aren’t overly picky about where their gift came from as long as they got it. So I stock up on goodies for cheap and it makes us all happy.
The above pictures are all the goodies I found at the Dollar Tree. I didn’t buy them all, but I was very impressed by the selection! Let me know if you find anything awesome at your Dollar Tree.
Here is a list of the approximate costs of souvenirs at Disney World.

I like buying the Grab & Go Play Packs at the dollar store for long car trips and such. They usually include a couple of crayions, some stickers and a small coloring book for about a 1$.
I’m planing on stocking up on thoses and other cheep entertainment for the flight and long lines next year at WDW

We wanted a Disney Christmas tree but couldn’t see spending 20+ per ornament so what I did was bought different disney characters (most of them from Dollar Tree), inserted small ‘eye’ hooks and threaded red ribbon through the ‘eye’ hooks. They look just as good as the Disney ornaments at about $1.50 each.

May I also suggest the dollar spot at Target. Last year I snuck some birthday surprises along for my husband’s special day at the parks. I also bought a Sorcerer’s hat there around Halloween that Stitch swiped off my head at Hollywood Studios. (Magical moment :) ) Since our trip was mid November we did do all our Christmas shopping for both our families at the parks, but we augmented those items with stocking stuffers also from the dollar spot.

following the advice of allears.net I bought Disney themed gifts for my children before leaving for our trip 2 years ago. I wrapped them up ahead of time & left 1 out for each kid to find in the morning before heading out. The kids ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!

My daughter and I enjoy pin trading in the parks. I recently purchased a lot of 50 Disney trading pins from e-bay for a fraction of the price they would have cost when we got there. Just a thought :)

I too did that when we went to Disney. I bought some random lots of pins before we left. Then the kids already had pins when we got there & they were able to trade them for ANY pin they REALLY wanted.

Love Dollar Tree! Thrift shops & yard sales are also good sources for special trip surprises. I always pack some surprises for the airplane when we travel (it’s amazing how something “new” can fascinate a child for a good chunk of time) and some of my best finds have been from yard sales or thrift shops.

Walgreens always has lots of stuff. It’s not a $1 but it’s still cheap.

We had a party for my 4 year old daughter recently (Princess theme of course!) and bought most of our party favors and paper goods at Dollar Tree. They had some really cute mini notepads and mini frisbee disks, both Disney princess themed. We added in some of those faux jewel rings and Rolos (not from Dollar Tree) in the pastel Easter colors and made some really cute goodie bags. The goodie bags themselves and paper goods were more of a generic princess theme, but they worked well with everything else and were much less expensive than the party goods store.

We love to get the tubes of 15 Glow Sticks. Each one becomes a bracelet. We will open a couple of tubes while we are waiting on the night parade or fireworks and let the boys hand them out to other kids in the crowd. We make friends and talk with other families around us. Our boys learn the joys of sharing and giving and many parents are delighted that they don’t have to buy anything. And everyone has a good time. It makes what could be a long boring wait fun and the time passes quickly.

I saw Disney Pez dispensers at the Dollar Tree this week. They had some princesses, Pooh, Mickey, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto. Pez dispensers often $2+ so for a buck at the Dollar Tree it’s a good deal. I also saw Pez candy refills there as well. I picked some up to stash away for “surprise visits from Mickey” on our up coming trip.
