A Disney World Souvenir: Build Your Own LightSaber at Disney Springs. Bring the Star Wars fan to Once Upon a Toy in Disney Springs for a unique activity of building their own Lightsaber.
- Choose between building your own single or double lightsaber (double ranges close to 8-feet when fully opened, so not suitable for smaller spaces)
- Choose the color that you would like your build your own lightsaber to be
- Choose the noise crystal for your build your own lightsaber (based on different characters)
The whole process only takes a couple of minutes and was very easy to do. There is always Cast Members in the area, so if you need help building one, or you’re not sure which color is for which Star Wars member, feel free to ask them. The lightsabers do condense to a small size, making them suitable for those that are flying or are tight on space/luggage.
You might also consider getting a silhouette done of your family.

Do they still do this even though Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is open?
Brian Corrado says
we are traveling to Disney next week. Did you find out if they still allow lightsaber builidng at Once upon a toy?
Levi says
Is there a online shop where you can buy extra parts as I am in Australia and it’s a long and expensive flight to get saber parts
Matt says
What is the online shop’s name?
JOHNATHAN ARTIS says
How long is this experience
Amber Easterling says
Would anyone mind sharung the cost? We are going in December and I am trying to figure out how much money to being for souvenirs.
Stephanie says
As of yesterday, 11-10-18, the cost begins at $24.95 up to $50 depending on whether a single or double lightsaber is built.
Chow Mein says
Does anyone know if you can separate the double-bladed lightsabers.
Jack Skowron says
Yes they can be separated and dual wielded. There’s a fair price hike but that’s due to the fact you’re building 2 lightsabers
Judy says
Hello,
My son went a year ago and built one of these. He took it apart the other day and put it back together wrong. The plastic part that is green that shows the light is stuck. Anyone know how I can get a replacement part or how to fix it. We currently have it in the freezer and but it is really stuck. His handle piece is fine just the part that extends for the light sabor.
Hayden Amarantes says
I have the same problem. I actually lost the 2 lightsaber parts I had to a dual blade I built there when I was about 7 and since a few months ago I’ve been trying to look for parts for it. I’m afraid the only way is to actually go back to Disney and somehow get the parts again, which is obscured because I’m not paying for a plane ticket and an entry ticket just to get 2 blades. Sorry for your inconvenience and sorry nobody has responded to you in 3 years. Good luck ma’am.
Jude Wilson says
Do they still sell the plastic build your own lightsaber at Disney world like at once upon a toy. I know about the metal ones in galaxys edge I’m wondering about the ones that are plastic with the cross guard and the double blades option
April L says
The new $200 lightsabers are not made the same. Go to Sta Wars Galaxy’s Edge and invest in the higher qulity saber
Jennifer says
Does anyone know the exact location in Downtown Disney to make the light sabers?
Cameron says
They are at Once Upon A Toy in Downtown Disney
Sara says
Is that inside the park? My son wants to make one but we are only there two days and didn’t plan on going
To pArk before our cruise
Kristen D says
It is inside Hollywood Studios!
Derek says
There is a place at Disney Springs to do it also, that doesn’t require park admission.
Charles Brayden says
I got my son one back in September and he loves it ! However it just stopped working any ideas on how to get it to work again ! He’s autistic and it keeps him occupied for hours every day!
Steve Huxley says
We built a Darth Maul double light saber for my grandson at Disney a couple of weeks ago but only one end lights up. Are both ends supposed to light up? We were in a hurry and did not test it. Any suggestions appreciated!
Katie says
This is probably too late, but since the light is only on one side (set for the singles) they only light up one side of the double saber, but it’s still heaps of fun
Chow Mein says
You’re wrong.there is a piece of paper near the top of the inner handler that you just pull out.
David says
I don’t recommend taking lightsabers home on an airplane. Ship them home via parcel post mail or UPS/FedEx. The TSA currently has rules specifically prohibiting bringing even TOY weapons on an airplane, and overzealous TSA workers have been known to confiscate even OBVIOUS toy weapons that could never be used to hijack a plane (like weapons included with small action figures). You can take your chances that they won’t remove them from checked luggage going into the belly of the plane, but they are very likely to take them from carry-on bags. When we returned from Disney a couple weeks ago, it was just easier and cheaper to ship them home with the rest of our souvenirs (less than $25 via UPS Ground vs. up to $50 for an extra checked bag).
Poop says
I built a double lightsaber too
Angela says
We opted for making R2 D2s in Hollywood Studios instead this trip…much smaller and easier to ship / pack for the trip back home
Amanda - Destinations in Florida says
At the Hollywood Studios location – Tatooine Traders, they also now feature a “make your own custom R2-D2”. Guests are able to choose their own colors (I believe the colors are red, blue, green, yellow and black) and can add fun toppers such as Mickey Ears.
Great for all those Star War fans out there!
Mary Ann Chernowski says
We are bringing our grandsons in April, 2020 and wonder if you are still offering making your own R2-D2 in Hollywood studios. Also, what is the price?
Thank you!
Cindy says
We also did these a couple trips ago when they didn’t sell the double light sabers at the stores. They lasted a lot longer than any of thier other souveniers, except maybe the build your own Mr. Potato heads.
Cindy says
Oh and since we got a couple of them they could change them up when we got home.
Gretchen says
My son did this at Hollywood Studios on our last trip and thought it was the coolest thing. I thought considering the price of a light saber at Toys R Us this was a pretty reasonably priced souvenir experience.
Melissa says
My son and husband did this while we were at Disney this summer and they loved it….have a 2-sided lightsaber that reaches floor to ceiling…not so much fun for me!
Kristin of Couponing to Disney says
Wow, that’s big!
Amanda - Destinations in Florida says
I was going to purchase the double sided as well Melissa, but thankfully we had a wonderful Cast Member that warned me about the size and highly recommended that we go with the standard one instead!
sam says
any ideas if Disney wil let us build them online?
