Here is a Success Story from my Reader, Alyssa! She did an amazing job!
My family of four are huge Disney fans and love to visit Disney World as much as we can. Shortly after I started couponing, I found the Couponing to Disney site. I started following all the great deals that were posted on the blog.
I started following the blog for the weekly matchups for local drug stores. However, we eventually canceled our subscription to our newspaper, so I was not receiving coupons anymore. I did not leave this deter me from saving money! Being a stay at home mom, I was determined to pull my weight when it came to all the “extras.”
The method of taking money from different places did not work for my family. It is a great system if you can make it work. To this day I remember my grandmother always moving money around out of her envelopes to make her budget work. My husband started a budget that he inputs all our spending information on a website that keeps track for us. This turned out to work much better for our family.
The largest way we save money is with our birthday and holiday shopping. I am a member of a few different survey and other cash earning websites. All the money I earn from those websites goes towards birthday and holiday gifts.
I start saving in the beginning of January. I keep a gift closet where I store presents for my children’s birthday, Easter baskets and Christmas. I even keep extra toys that were a good deal for when they are invited to birthday parties. By doing this, last year I had around $500 in Christmas gifts for my kids, all paid for with gift cards and cash I earned through the sites. The key is to shop all year round.
To me I feel like I am getting all their toys essentially for free, it does take my time to sit down and do the work, however, I find time to do this during my youngest nap time. By doing this I take the stress off of paying for all the “extras” and allows us to save money. I also found by doing this, if I don’t have a gift card at the time to buy it I tend not to get it. If it still on sale when I have earned enough to purchase it, then I will, otherwise I won’t. I found not only do we save money by doing that as well, but impulse buys are limited.
The thing I love the most about Couponing to Disney is that you know all the posts on the blog are legitimate deals. I feel like there are so many couponing sites and some may post things that are not legitimate. Couponing in general can get a bad reputation with stores because of this. Some of our local stores have cracked down on couponing because people were taking advantage of it and not doing it the correct way. By following Couponing to Disney’s blog it has allowed my kids not only to be spoiled with toys they would not otherwise have, but go to Disney World often! I can’t thank Kristin and her team enoughfor all the hard work they have put into this blog over the past few years.
