Real talk, y’all. I’m a stay at home mom who loves makeup but budget, time, and practicality don’t always line up with my beauty obsession. So when we posted the 60% Off +Free gift+ Free Shipping deal from Sigma, I was a little shook. The budget and the time were coming together, so practicality can get in line!
I purchased the eyeliner in Vintage (a matte brown) for $6.30. Originally, it was $9, so 30% off! Huzzah. The site advertised a free lip product and they were not kidding. I received a full sized Power Crayon in Signature Sigma Pink. But what I didn’t know was that I would also be getting an additional free product: a generous sample size of their brush cleanser. Sigma is known for their brushes, so I am excited to try their cleanser. They know what they’re doing in that department.
The Eyeliner was terrific. It went on easily and smoothly. It lasted the entire day of a trip to the movies, to Staples, and to a BBQ, all while wrangling three kids. It was lighter than I anticipated, but really added dimension to my eye look. Now about that free lip product. Here’s my thing with free products. Lots of places offer “free gifts” and sometimes they’re less gift and more grief. You don’t want, don’t need, don’t like. Then it’s not free. Then I have to go to the trouble of re-homing this product, or deal with the guilt of trashing it. I may not be paying in money, but I’m paying in stress.
There was a chance this lip product was going to be that for me. It was PINK, y’all. Like, brighter, and hotter, and pinker than anything in my day to day. But for the sake of deals and science, I gave it a try.
And I LOVED it.
Yes it was still big and bright and pink, but who knew I could rock big and bright and pink? That’s the other side of the free stuff coin: sometimes you try something you normally never would and you end up loving it.
Me, with everything but Sigma eyeliner and lip crayon.
Me, with Sigma eyeliner, lip crayon, and a big ole’ confidence boost.
So out of curiosity (science and deals!), I decided to see what the drugstore brands were charging for a similar brown eyeliner pencil.
Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Definer, Rich Brown-$6.29
L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte-Matic Eyeliner-$8.99
Revlon So Fierce Vinyl Eyeliner in Mighty Mocha-$6.99
Wowa! My Sigma eyeliner, lip crayon, and cleanser sample ended up costing less than just one of the most popular eyeliners in the drugstores. Win!
