Did you know there are 7 species of sea turtles worldwide, and 5 of them can be found in Florida?!
At Disney’s Vero Beach Resort in particular are three species of sea turtles that use this beach to lay their eggs, along this five mile stretch of beach. Disney’s Conservation Team Wildlife monitors nests on this beach and so far in the 2021 season their have been 375 nests laid!
Team Wildlife work each year to minimize disturbances of nests and, eliminate fisheries gear and reduce plastic pollution. Another fun fact, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort features sea turtle-friendly lighting. This helps nesting females and hatchlings find their way on the journey back to the sea.
