What to do with your old MagicBand is a question that often comes up. Many guests might toss them in a drawer or memory box. However for Disney enthusiasts, learn a couple of creative ways to proudly display your bands. Also learn 2 practical options for what to do with your old MagicBand.
MagicBand Wreath
Display your MagicBands on a wreath. For those that visit or plan to visit regularly, it is fun adding to it each trip. I also added our Free buttons we have collected. I love how they wrote the Anniversary, as 9 “Ears”, instead of years! Wreath pictured was purchased at the Dollar Tree for $1.00.
MagicBand Garland
Did you ever make garland or a countdown out of construction paper? Link your old MagicBands together in the same way to create a MagicBand Garland, perfect for placing near Disney ornaments on a Christmas Tree.
Re-Use Your MagicBand
If you have a special edition, favorite character etc. MagicBand you may want to reuse, you can. This is possible as long as it is in working condition. Guests can manage their active MagicBands in the My Profile section (this is not an indicator of working order).
However, re-using MagicBands can get tricky. Unfortunately once a battery dies within the MagicBand there is no way to replace and hard to tell. A typical lifespan of a MagicBand is 2-3 years. Also note, while older bands may still work for tickets, room charges and more they may not function for extras such as rides photos and names on screen (it’s a small world). Guests booking an on-site package are given complimentary solid color MagicBands per person of stay.
Recycle Your MagicBand
If you do not wish to decorate with or re-use recycle their MagicBands. Simply pack with you on your next trip and hand them over to the front desk at your Disney Resort. They will recycle the MagicBands for you. Also remember to de-activate your MagicBand on My Disney Experience, this will remove the band from your profile.
