Character dining is back at Walt Disney World and I was so excited to secure a reservation to Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort. With the current event taking place, this breakfast featured social distancing characters. I honestly do not believe it took away from the magic and fun of a character meal.
Breakfast a la Art with Mickey and Friends take place every morning at this rooftop restaurant and features a prix fixe menu with multiple options for every appetite. Throughout your meal, you are able to see Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck as they parade through the restaurant…. first solo and then together.
When we arrived at Disney’s Riviera Resort, we were asked to check-in by scanning our QR code before getting to the elevator to go to the 10th floor to the rooftop restaurant.

The hostess was protected by the plexi-glass barricade at the hostess stand and immediately took us to our table.
We were seated at one of the first tables you come to, and all of the tables within 6 feet of ours were marked as unavailable.
As soon as we were seated, Mickey Mouse came out in his art attire to his intro music. He danced around in place before beginning to make his way through the restaurant, pausing throughout so people could take selfies with him in the background.
To get to the menu, we scanned a QR code to view today’s dining selection. Many restaurants are having to fluctuate their offerings based on availability.
Our waiter arrived at the table with a paint bucket full of fresh pastries. Isn’t the presentation fun? I love how the condiments are in the artist palette.
Inside were muffins, pastries and croissants (my personal favorite). I love to take a croissant and stuff it with eggs, potatoes and bacon. Yum yum!
Minnie Mouse arrived within 5 minutes of Mickey Mouse’s departure. She also had her own entrance music and danced throughout the restaurant pausing ever so often for selfies during her promenade.
Next up was Donald Duck and he seemed to be the most excited character there. He was eager to hear he is #1 and was very responsive to compliments. He also danced throughout the restaurant, pausing for 6 foot selfies.
Daisy Duck looked so pretty in her TuTu. She pranced throughout the restaurant and even double backed for missed selfies.
After coming through solo, the characters come out together for a promenade, slowly changing positions within the restaurant. If you are in SavEars, you can see a video of that here.
I decided on the Quiche Gruyere that was served with potatoes and small salad (because who doesn’t want salad for breakfast?). It was very tender, cheesy and flaky. Yum yum!
Allison (the owner of Destinations in Florida) opted for the 2 eggs with sausage and potatoes.
The characters parade through an additional 2 times before our meal was over. Pausing for selfies. I was like a child….so excited to be back in the magic.
I love Donald! He had so much spunk.
And Daisy was so sassy with her poses.
The bill for the meal arrived in a paper holder that would be tossed after our payment was ran.
We were also presented with a frame worthy postcard of the characters with their autographs (preprinted) on the backside. This was a great alternative to autographs.
The restaurant itself is beautiful. It is open for breakfast and dinner….with dinner being a signature dining experience complete with a dress code.
The windows throughout the restaurant offer amazing views of Caribbean Beach, Epcot and Hollywood Studios. You can even see Animal Kingdom, the waterparks and a very small portion of the Magic Kingdom if you look hard enough.
To the back of the restaurant is the terrace. Here you can enjoy a beverage while watching the fireworks in the evenings. It also offers some incredible views that make dining at this restaurant so worth it.
Overall, I really enjoyed the social distancing character breakfast. I thought the characters were super charming and energetic. The meal was delicious and the service was incredible. I would absolutely do it again and I encourage you to do it as well.
