With the new Star Wars expansion and some new attractions slowly opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, let’s take a look at this great park! Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of the smaller parks on Disney property, so it’s easy to visit in one day. Many guests like to enjoy this park for the famous Toy Story Midway Mania attraction, as well as the Rockin’ Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror. But there is so much more to it! This week, we are going to explore how you can visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios in one day!
What is the best way to get a spot at the Jedi Training Academy? First, you have to know where to go. They recently changed the sign up location for this. It is now called Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. The best way to get a spot for the show is to get to the park way before the posted opening time. When the park opens, make your way toward the Indiana Jones stage. Right across from this is an Indiana Jones themed store, and that is where you sign up for Jedi Training. You must have the child who is going to be participating in the show with you when you sign up.
What should we FastPass at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Toy Story Midway Mania is not only a “must do”, but also should be at the top of your FastPass list. This attraction is so, so popular and often brings about very long waits. It is also very fun for everyone in your family, so it’s a win win! You will want to schedule your FastPass for this as early in the day as possible. Another option is to head straight to Toy Story Midway Mania right when the park opens, and then have a Fastpass scheduled for it later in the day. This way you get to ride it twice! I also suggest using a Fastpass on Tower of Terror and Star Tours. I feel as if the shows have plenty of seating and are not worth a Fastpass.
Is it worth seeing characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? I think so, yes. Since this park is relatively small, and has some great character opportunities, I think they are a great idea. You can see some fairly elusive characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Often you will see Sorcerer Mickey, as well as Pixar characters, the Incredibles, and sometimes even Baymax. I also like to see a lot of the Star Wars characters. At the new Launch Bay, you can see Darth Vader and Chewbacca. You won’t see them anywhere else on Disney property! Plus, it is the place to meet Disney Jr. characters as well. I think that with so many characters that you will ONLY find at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it’s a good idea and good use of time to meet them.
Which resorts are closest to Disney’s Hollywood Studios? There are three resorts within walking distance of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort are all the closest to Hollywood Studios. In the moderate category, Caribbean Beach is also very close. You can also take a boat between the above mentioned resorts and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
What dining recommendation do you have for Disney’s Hollywood Studios? I think you can enjoy a sit down meal at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, even if you only have one day to spend. My recommendation for this is Sci Fi Dine In or 50s Prime Time Cafe. With Hollywood and Vine being a character location, as well as a buffet, I think it could take longer to eat there than the other two places. The atmosphere of Sci Fi Dine In and 50s Prime Time are great for the whole family! If you are looking for Quick Service, Pizza Planet is always my favorite!

Thanks, Carrie! These are great tips. We have some Star Wars fans in our group, and I was wondering if we should make this a two-day park. I think you’re right that if we FastPass Toy Story and make a beeline to Jedi Training, we should be able to do both. Maybe when Star Wars Land opens we’ll have to devote more time here!
