Disney’s Hollywood Studios is undergoing some major changes, some closing but the openings ahead overshadow this. By 2019, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will have much more to do and see. Below are 7 confirmed changes for Hollywood Studios by 2019.
1. Jawas Leave Star Wars Launch Bay – (Closed) July 29, 2017
Guests have enjoyed interacting with the Jawas for years at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. They met guests at Star Wars Launch Bay for pictures and even trading small items. However, we are sad to say that the Jawas are no longer at Hollywood Studios.
2. The Great Movie Ride – (Closing) August 13, 2017
The Great Movie Ride has been a beloved journey reliving classic movies. However, it closes doors on August 13, 2017. This attraction will be replaced by Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
3. New Theming On Grand Avenue & New Restaurant – (Opening) Fall, 2017
The Grand Avenue area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is under construction. When it debuts Fall 2017, it will have been re-imagined to resemble present-day Downtown Los Angeles (think vintage office buildings). Guests will be able to enjoy a cold drink at the soon to be, BaseLine Tap House, in a brick building with indoor/outdoor seating.
Also, grab a small bite to eat such as the Bavarian pretzel with mustard and beer-cheese fondue. BaseLine Tap House will open at 11am daily.
4. Toy Story Land – (Opening) Summer 2018
Guests will soon be able to shrink down to the size of a toy and explore Toy Story Land which will be opening in 2018. Recently, the last piece of the Slinky Dog Dash was installed. Slinky Dog Dash is a family friendly roller coaster and one of 2 new attractions that will debut at Toy Story Land in 2018. The other ride named, Alien Swirling Saucers.
5. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway – (Opening) 2019
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be located at the Chinese Theatre, replacing The Great Movie Ride. The new attraction invites guests to become part of a cartoon with Mickey Mouse and his friends. Ride into the starlight and hold onto your seats for this zany adventure. Expected to open in 2019.
6. Star Wars: Galaxy Edge – (Opening) 2019
Coming to Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World in 2019 is Star Wars: Galaxy Edge. This new land is said to be like stepping into a new planet. With interactive and immersive experiences for guests. Read about the 10 thing we know so far about Star Wars themed land opening in 2019.
