1. Disney Does Not Own Celebration
Celebration was dreamed of by Walt Disney and built by The Walt Disney Company in mid 1990’s, to be the perfect town. The land was owned by Disney and needed to be used or risk the possibility of losing the land. Therefore, the idea of the perfect town was built, with the era of 1950’s in mind. Celebration allows no franchises. Celebration was sold by Disney in 2004, however it still remains known as the Disney Town.
2. Celebration Is Not A Town
Although people often refer to it as the town of Celebration, it is not actually a town. Instead it is a community, known as a Census-Designated Place (CDP) and is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical area and the Osceola County. Has its own school, bank, governing offices and more.
3. Visit Market Street
Interested in visiting Celebration? Add a stop to Market Street on your list. This is a quant and nostalgic American downtown area with shops and restaurants. Interestingly enough, this main road could not be named Main Street, since the town of Kissimmee already has one.
4. Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is an annual October event in Celebration, Florida. Family, friends and visitors can enjoy live music and relax. Plus, see the Town Center transform as leaves fall on Market Street during this fall celebration.
5. Now Snowing
Now Snowing is an annual December event in Celebration, Florida. Family, friends and visitors can enjoy special community performances, a special concert series and more. This event offers the area’s only synthetic ice rink, plus offers horse drawn carriage rides, train rides and a photo with Santa. Plus, see nightly snowfall during the event!
6. Cost To Buy In Celebration, Florida
The cost to buy in Celebration may be more affordable than you think. The cost actually varies greatly, depending on the village and home style. As of early 2019, there were open houses for condos (apartment style) for under $300,000 and beautiful Mediterranean inspired estates for up to $2 million. There were various price points in between as well. Plus, homeowner’s association costs apply to living in Celebration.
7. Celebration Amenities
Residents are given a Celebration ID card to access amenities, in various villages. This includes pools, work out areas, tennis courts, playgrounds and more. These areas are for residents only. There are also many walking and biking trails. Unfortunately, no Disney perks come with living in Celebration, Florida. However, residents can see fireworks for free with views from the Celebration Boulevard.
