Disney World has various Resort categories, the main ones are: Value, Moderate and Deluxe. Today we are discussing things we love about the Moderate Resorts. Now find out, 7 Things to love about Moderate Resorts and where to find them.
First, what are the Disney’s Moderate Resorts? See the list below:
- Caribbean Beach Resort
- Coronado Springs Resort
- Port Orleans – French Quarter
- Port Orleans – Riverside
- The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort
All Disney World resorts offer complimentary transportation to Disney parks. Select Moderate Resorts offer transportation other than the traditional busses. For instance, from Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter or Port Orleans Riverside take a boat ride to Disney Springs. Guests of Fort Wilderness can enjoy a boat ride to Magic Kingdom. Furthermore, Disney’s Caribbean Resort will have a stop for Disney Skyliner.
Each of the Moderate Resorts offer a fun addition to the main pool, that value Resorts do not. Guests at Moderate resorts will enjoy a waterslide, slide again and again. This is a highlight for many children, and often has little to no wait, compared to park attractions!
Additionally, guests of either Port Orleans Resort get a unique perk. Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside are sister Resorts, and share amenities, even the pool. These are the only 2 Resorts on property where guests can use another Resort’s pool, pool hopping is otherwise not allowed.
3. Horse Drawn Carriage Rides
For this fun add-on, visit Fort Wilderness or Port Orleans-Riverside to experience a horse drawn carriage ride. This is a unique way to experience either Resort. Soak in views during your 25 minute experience, while you ride in style around the Resort grounds.
4. Bike Rentals
Another unique way to explore select Moderate resorts is cruising on a bike rental. Bike Rentals are available at the following moderate resorts: Disney’s Caribbean Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside or Fort Wilderness.
Surrey Bikes are fun for the family!

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness sleep up to 6 adults. This is great for larger groups not wanting to book 2 value rooms. In addition, 1 Dedicated (free) parking space for those who drive. Fort Wilderness also offers the most recreation options out of any Disney World Resort. Consider Pony Ride, the Fort Wilderness Archery Experience, and a visit to Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long is always fun!
6. Table-Service Restaurants
A perk of Moderate Resorts is they offer at least one sit-down restaurant, in addition to lounges and a Resort food court. A gem of Port Orleans Restaurant for great food is Boatwright’s Dining Hall. An example at Fort Wilderness includes Trails End Restaurant for breakfast, brunch and dinner. Sebastian’s Bistro at Caribbean Beach Resort and more. Plus, a new rooftop dining experience with incredible views is coming to Disney’s Coronado Resort named Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood. Table service restaurants are perfect for relaxing while you eat, adding to the relaxed vibe often found at Moderate Resorts.
7. Queen Size Beds & Bigger Rooms
