I’m glad you said that there isn’t much for kids to do at Hollywood Studio’s. That’s the one park that we didn’t get a chance to go to and I was wondering what all we missed. I don’t feel so bad now because we were looking for things for the kids. Thanks!
On my agenda for the end of the month………………….a picture with the Green Army Men!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love your pics this week. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
We’v been going to Disney yearly for 10+ years. My kids are now 22,19 and 15. They all still want to go on vaca with us when we go to WDW and their favorite park is now Studios! It has certainly changed over the years…years of memories I would not trade.
Our family loves HS! We spent 2.5 days there on our last trip. My kids are 8, 6, and 3. My boys really got into the big rides this year, but they loved Toy Story Mania. The Army Men were so cool and a highlight for my boys. My 3 year old daughter can’t get enough of Voyage of the Little Mermaid and the Muppets. Oh such good memories!
Hollywood Studios was where my baby got sick in July – she had a high fever (ear infection that we didn’t know about) and the nurses sent us to urgent care in the afternoon. We returned that evening and finished the park – there isn’t much to do for the little ones there, but Star Tours was still running, we hit the Great Movie ride, TSM and saw Fantasmic – which were the two reasons we went there in the first place. A one day (or less) park for us until the kiddos get older.
DHS is not our fav either. We usually hit it at opening and are gone by lunch. I’m going to try going late afternoon on a non-Fantasmic day sometime and see if the crowds are bad. The Army Men are very entertaining. I saw two kids in amazingly accurate Army Man costumes in December; it was funny to watch the characters interact with them. Continue to have a Magical Time!
I would love to have a total of how many characters you have seen on your WDW trips? I’m sure it would be amazing!!! We loved seeing the Green Army men at Hollywood.
Funny your kids didn’t care for Hollywood Studios as much…this was my kids favorite right under magic kingdom!! Lotta love how Disney has something for everyone!
We’ve skipped the Studios our last 2 visits. We didn’t upgrade for park hoppers and didn’t have enough to do there for an entire day. Only one of my 4 is very adventurous, 2 won’t do thrill rides at all. There’s just not as many rides for the entire family there. Still, one day I know we’ll have to go, if only to ride Toy Story Mania. :)
Kristin, I’m glad you brought this up in your post. We were just wondering if Hollywood Studios is worth going to. We will have a then 4 year old and infant. What do you think?
We saw the Green Army Man for the first time when we were there 2 years ago. My son wanted his picture with him so bad, but we were on our way to something and I said we would come back. Well of course he was gone then. He was so mad and brought it up all the time. When we were there in Oct. When we saw the Green Army Man, we stopped right then and there, I wasn’t going through that again!
My kids love Hollywood studios because some of there characters are easy to find there. The Incredibles, Toy Story folks, Jedi Training, Lightning McQueen etc!
My kiddies 7,4,2 love love love Hollywood Studios!! That is the wonderful thing about DisneyWorld… so much do to and there is something different for everyone!
We leave in 2 weeks for 3 days of Disney. Trying to decide which parks to visit. Anything going on at Star Wars at Hollywood? I heard it is closed and my 6 year old boy is devastated. Trying to decide if we should skip and hit Universal instead. We are staying closer to Universal.
The army men told us a few weeks ago (record-breaking lows in FL) that they were so cold their “plastic was freezing.” My daughter still talks about that- “are they REALLY plastic, mommy?” lol We had a blast at HS! Hope you are too!
We spent two days at HS last time, and my son wasn’t bored at all. He saw the Indy show, Lights Camera Action and Backlot tour all for the first time. He had fun at all of them. And the highlight was jedi training. I think it’s just harder there, because you have to deal with the show times and all that stuff, and it makes for some big breaks in action if you don’t time everything just right. I thought we could get by without seeing Playhouse Disney this year, but he had to see it too.
These are great pictures! I really like the one with your husband and sweet girl. I also like his sweatshirt. I don’t know if you got it this your or not but I’m going to try and look for that while were there.
It’s a favorite of my kids too, they are 9, 11 and 16. They love the rides, shows nd the drawing classes at Animation Academy. Soon you will see them liking it more
I think.
Our two children (3 and 5) joined in a march with the army men until the 3 year old made a wrong turn. He decided to just lay on the ground and not move. Everyone, including the army men got a laugh.
Amen on HS- I couldn’t find much there to do either! Good day to go relax and enjoy the resorts! I want to see Animal Lodge. Let me know if you need pictures on your resort reviews- I have for quite a few!
I am just loving all of your “live from Disney” posts. We have a trip planned for August and all of your pictures are getting me so excited. Where did you find the army men to take a picture with? I would love to get a pic of DS with one this summer. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Loving all the pictures! We did Hollywood studios last year for the first time. The kids loved it and really want to go back for Toy Story Mania but other than that not as much to do.
That will change before you know it. At 7 and 5 my grandkids wanted nothing to do with Playhouse Disney, etc. This year they want an extra day for Toy Strory Mania and RocknRoller Coaster, and even Tower of Terror! Time flies!!
My brother just got back from Disney last week. He’s 28 and getting his picture taken with the “Green Army Man” was one of his highlights from the trip.
I’m glad you said that there isn’t much for kids to do at Hollywood Studio’s. That’s the one park that we didn’t get a chance to go to and I was wondering what all we missed. I don’t feel so bad now because we were looking for things for the kids. Thanks!
this all makes me SO much more excited for our trip in april! i’m so glad you guys are having a great time!

I love that you all wear Disney shirts the whole time you are there. That is some planning!
We all (kids and adults) love Toy Story Mania!
Fun! Those Army Men are awesome!

I’ve never seen the Army Men at Disney…….need to try to find them next time. :)
Looks like you’re having an awesome time. Hope the weather has been nice for you.

That toy soldier with no face is kinda creepy!
Love the Green Army Men! The Woody topiary is nice. I have never seen them before.

Toy Story Mania is our favorite ride of all the parks. Love the green army men!
i agree, there isn’t too much to do at hollywood studios especially for little ones. i do love tower of terror and rockin’ roller coaster!

Emily is looking older and older in each picture. Where are the pictures of you and the kids?? I hope someone took some!
We really like HS. We need more than one day there next time. During the parade, I would say the army man on the Sully float was awesome!
Id hate to be one of the characters who dresses as the green army men- I bet those outfits get hot!
It’s a favorite of my kids too, they are 9, 11 and 16. They love the rides, shows nd the drawing classes at Animation Academy. Soon you will see them liking it more
I think.

That’s fun! btw, how do you get DH to wear Disney shirts? My DH wouldn’t do it to save his life.
Great pictures. I looks as though you guys have had lots of fun.
The green army men are cool! When we saw them at California Adventures they called me “Commander Mom”. I like that title, but my kids don’t. LOL.
Something about the army men gives me the creeps. I hate to say it but, they do.
I think we need to see some pictures of Mom & Dad together!
I’ve never seen those army men characters before…they’re pretty cool!
Amen on HS- I couldn’t find much there to do either! Good day to go relax and enjoy the resorts! I want to see Animal Lodge. Let me know if you need pictures on your resort reviews- I have for quite a few!
Love those army guys!
So what is for dinner tonight? Are you eating off property at all?

My boys loved their picture with the army men too!
