Who is an 80’s kid? ME! Aladdin the original (circa 1992) was the first movie, I remember going to the theaters to see. When I heard that Disney was doing a remake musical style. I couldn’t wait to see it! Rarely do we go opening weekend to the theater. Heck with Netflix and Hulu rarely do we go to the movies. I just had to go opening weekend to see Aladdin. Needless to say my kids where ecstatic to go to the movies.
It was everything I expected and more! Will Smith had big shoes to fill as the Genie. Let me just tell you he did a great job of not only filling those shoes but making them his own. Don’t get me wrong Robin Williams will always be the original #1 Genie in my eyes. Now I have 2 Genie’s instead of one! They are different but equally as uniquely talented.
I was so happy to hear all my favorite classic songs from the original Aladdin in the new version. This version was so similar to the original except it was real life actors and scenes. All the singing and dancing was enchanting. I felt like I was in a bustling town in the middle east. Disney did a great job of transporting you to a whole new world!
The movie is 2 hours long but kept everyone entertained the whole time. Even my 5 year old sat merrily watching. It is hard to find a movie that suits all of our tastes. Aladdin did a great job of doing just that!
We turned going to see Aladdin into a fun family outing! We saw the first showing of the day. Most theaters charge less per ticket for the early bird showing. In our case the first showing of the day was at 11:45 AM. It cost $8.00 per person. The next showing of the day at 2:30 PM costs $11.00 per adult and $10.00 per kid. Just by going to the first showing of the day we saved $13.00! While that might seem small. Remember my friends those dollars add up into twenties and so on. We bought the largest popcorn they have you get one free refill, and 2 sodas with unlimited free refills. I brought sandwich bags in my person. Each person got a sandwich bag full of popcorn, as they ran out I could quickly refill it. That saves us from the age old question who is going to hold the popcorn. That costs us $24.25. After the movie we took the kids to Chick-Fil-A for a an early dinner. We had a great day!
