Aldi has announced some new policies that will go into effect today, Thursday April 9th.
Aldi, following the example of some other retailers, will limit the number of people inside their stores to five customers per 1,000 square feet. I don’t know about your state, but part of my state’s stay at home order included essential stores limiting the number of customers allowed inside.
Aldi team members will be stationed outside cleaning carts and counting customers. Shoppers will be allowed in one at a time to promote distancing and you may be asked to wait outside as the store fills up.
Medical Professional can show their IDs and skip straight to the front of the line (if one has formed). Likewise, if a line does form customers are asked to stay 6 feet away from the person in front of them.
Aldi is ALSO asking families to limit their shopping to one person per family, though they will make exceptions for any customer who needs to shop with their children or assist a vulnerable shopper. I know our single parents will be especially happy to hear this, as similar policies have caused some concern.
In addition to the new limit and everything that goes with them, Aldi is temporarily making all their aisles “one way”, to help maintain social distance and to assist the flow of traffic. There will be signage to assist you.
This week, Aldi will be doing temperature screening for their store and warehouse employees, as well as doing a basic health screening before they report to work.

I applaud Aldi for their effort during this challenging time.
Now,if we could just get people to follow the yellow brick road…seems simplle enough to me.
When I kindly informed a young mother with her 3 children that she was going the wrong way in that particular aisle…she responded with..what makes the difference anyway…oh well..just move along.
I appreciate all you are doing to address the safety for all of us.

While cleaning carts maybe they should spray customers hands with purell prior to the ability to go in the store and touch everything!

Nice, but let’s face it we can’t live like this forever. I also work in health care, you should see all the calls I had to make to tell people they are positive, and a large majority have had NO FEVER mild symptoms that could be anything. So taking the temp is good but not even 50 percent helpful. It’s really about being clean and careful with coughs and sneezing. Another thing these people who choose to wear gloves and masks, quit fondling everything in the store and then touching your mask and clothes then back to the cart, you people are the worst offenders in spreading germs .
