Asia is home to Expedition Everest and the Kali River Rapids. 2 popular Fastpass attractions.
There is a path behind the Tree of Life that links Africa and Asia. Along the path are large African drums and other instruments. Be sure to stop and play a few beats.
– This is a Fastpass attraction. Make sure you use it if the line is longer than 20 minutes.
– The height on this ride is 44″
– This ride has a Single Rider line. This can be faster than waiting in the regular line, but your party will likely not ride together.
– 25 minute show.
– Arrive 10 – 15 minutes before the show starts.
– Stay after the show. The bird handlers will bring a few birds to the stage for you to look closely at, ask questions and photograph.
– Look for the bathroom close to the show. There is an amazing view on the path to the bathroom!
– Fastpass attraction. Make sure you get a Fastpass if the line is longer than 20 minutes.
– 38″ height requirement.
– You will likely get wet, some people even wear ponchos.
– If you aren’t riding, be sure to stand on the bridge over Kali River Rapids. Look for the buttons. Push them when the boats come by and get the riders wet!
Maharaja Jungle Trek
– Takes about 20 – 30 minutes to tour. It’s a long path!
– There are no bathrooms on the trail so make sure you go to the bathroom first!

I would definitely not wait in line for the rapids ride. Do a fast pass. This ride is great, but very, very short. The lines are always long, and in my opinion, not worth such a short ride. Do the ride, but do a fast pass. And the ponchos are a great idea. We were the only ones on our boat that did not have them and we got soaked!! Also, just an fyi, they do have a storage area on the boat so all your stuff stays dry.
Thanks for all the Great Disney Posts :) We going for the first time in three weeks!
Yes, you will get wet on Kali river ride. If the ride doesn’t get you then the people with the water guns on the bridge will soak you. Wearing a rain poncho is a great idea.
When we ride the Kali River Rapids we put on our rain ponchos that we got at the Dollar Tree for $1 for 2 (sometimes they have 3 in the package.) We ride the ride and then either pass on the ponchos or throw them out. They are just perfect for one time use. I actually buy several of these and stash them in our backpack in case it rains or we go on splash mountain also.
Just wanted to let you know that Kali River Rapids is actually only a 38″ height requirement. We were there in October and my daughter rode on it just fine and she was exactly 40″. They put her in a “special” (taller) seat. She got soaked! I checked disneyworld.com just to verify the actual requirement.
Yep, I agree- Flights of Wonder was the BEST thing at AK!
I really liked the Flights of Wonder show, and I also loved that my kids could snack during it! We broke out the snack containers and water bottles and bought ourselves a lot more time until we had to stop for lunch! :)
