Animal Kingdom has a reason to celebrate with exciting news!
A Masai giraffe calf was recently born and now we know, it’s a boy! Weighing in at 183 pounds and standing at nearly 6 feet tall, he was born on June 10th to mom Lily.
Their markings are just beautiful! In the wild, it helps them to camouflage them and the marking also distinguish different subspecies.
The Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan Program oversees responsible breeding of threatened and endangered species. Currently there are roughly 35,000 Masai giraffes left in the wild.
Look for Lily and her calf on Kilimanjaro Safaris in the upcoming weeks!
