Be Our Guest (Dinner) – This table service restaurant has entrees that range from $21 for the Layered Ratatouille to $36 for the Grilled Strip Steak.
Walt Disney World “snacks” can certainly be eaten as a meal! In fact, eating light meals while walking around the Disney parks is a great idea. It gives you energy, keeps you going, and is easy on your wallet. It is also a great way to stretch your Disney Dining Plan credits. This week, we are sharing some Walt Disney World Snacks that Eat Like a Meal.
School Bread – This yummy treat can be found in the Norway Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase. It is in the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe, and is a fun and easy snack to enjoy while walking World Showcase. It is about the size of your fist, lightly sweetened yeast dough filled with custard and topped with vanilla glaze and coconut. So delicious!
Funnel Cake – You can get this treat from Sleepy Hollow in the Magic Kingdom. It is basically fried dough sprinkled with Sugar. Most people get these and share them. You can also find a unique funnel cake stand just outside the America Pavilion at Epcot’s World Showcase. They have unique toppings at this location, making it an extra fun and filling treat.
Dole Whip Float – The Dole Whip float is slightly different than the regular Dole Whip. This is because the extra pineapple juice that is added takes us extra space in your belly helping you feel fuller longer. Not to mention the extra sugar it gives you for walking around the parks. These are located at the Aloha Isle in the Magic Kingdom. You can also try to make these at home.

Upon returning to my room in the evening, I like to stash them in my suitcase. Then when I am home and I need to go somewhere, I have them handy to take along with me. Or, they make a fun, inexpensive souvenir, to bring home for family members, house sitters, etc.

If you have been reading Couponing to Disney long enough, you know that we have one goal here. It is to bring you deals, tips, and tricks for taking the money you save and putting it toward a Walt Disney World vacation. And while the site is FULL of great money saving deals and ideas, we have condensed some of them down into one post. Here are 10 Money Saving Tips For Disney World Vacations:
Stay at a Disney Value Resort – While on property you still get all the magical extras that come with enjoying any of the Walt Disney World resorts. You get to enjoy such things as Disney Transportation, extra magic hours, Disney meal plans, and much more. The rooms might be a little smaller, but a value resort can help save some money on your vacation so you can spend it on other things in the parks.
Stay at a resort or vacation home off Disney property. If you have to, there are plenty of decent hotel rooms available all around Lake Buena Vista. If you have a larger family (more than four people), the savings are even greater. You can get a vacation home with a private pool for a week, but remember you will need your own transportation.
Watch for Disney Promotions. Disney has been known to release promotions that will save you a big chunk of change such as FREE dining plans when you travel and a percentage off the cost of your room. This is where having a travel agent comes in handy. They watch for and apply any discounts that come along, even after you have booked your trip!
Purchase a dining package. Disney offers dining packages to guests staying at their resorts. These packages have to be booked in advance and you can save 30% or more on your dining if you buy one of these plans. Essentially the dining plan is a meal plan that you pay for in advance.
Travel during the “off” season. Disney resort and dining prices fluctuate depending on what time of year it is; the same trip over Christmas week will cost you a whole lot less the first week of December. There is much debate when the off season is. One guideline to follow is when school is out for summer or a break, it will be busy. If you have a flexible schedule, traveling in the off season could be more gentle on your budget.
Use Magical Express. If you are staying at a Disney resort you have access to Magical Express, their complimentary transportation round trip from MCO and your Disney resort. This will save you on renting a car, taxi or hiring a limo to transport you. Be sure you fly into Orlando International {MCO} to take advantage of this.
Eat meals outside the theme parks. Plan to eat at least one meal a day in your room, breakfast being the most obvious choice. Most Disney rooms come with an in-room fridge or access to get one (make sure of this in advance if you aren’t staying in a Disney resort). You can stock it with milk, yogurt, fruit, water or drinks. Add a loaf of bread, some peanut butter, cereal and breakfast pastries and you will save a good bit of money. If you are staying off Disney property you also have access to all the fast food restaurants and buffets in Orlando.
Use your Military ID to get a substantial resort and ticket discount. If you are an active or retired member of the military, there are lots of discounts available to you. You can take advantage of a great resort discount, as well as discounted park hopper tickets.
Book through a Disney vacation planner. A Disney vacation planner (a.k.a. travel agent) can help you save on your vacation by watching for promotions and ways to save money for you. Their service is 100% free (their commission is paid by Disney) and they also offer a number of excellent perks too.
Save on airfare. All of the carriers that fly in and out of Orlando airport offer decent rates if you do a little research and plan far enough ahead you can save some good money. Check the airports actual website opposed to the travel Discount sites. Also, you can save money on air by flying into Orlando on one airline, but then fly home on a different one.

Walt Disney World does have some attractions that allow guests to enjoy a shorter wait. While these may not be the most popular attractions, and are likely not worth a Fastpass, they are still ones that your family can enjoy. They are great for spending time between FastPass rides, taking a break from the heat, and some are “hidden gems” of Walt Disney World.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover – This attraction rarely ever has a wait; and even if it does, it’s usually very short. On really slow days, some Cast Members will even let you stay on the ride if you don’t want to get off, which is great if it’s raining or you have tired feet or tired kids. This attraction also gives riders a sneak peak of Space Mountain and is about 10 minutes long, which is pretty lengthy in comparison to other rides and shows. Regardless of what time of year you visit Disney World, you are almost always guaranteed a ride on the TTA with a minimum wait.
Tom Sawyer Island – The only wait you will encounter is as you wait for the raft to come back from the island. Kids can run and play on the island and adults can sit down and take a much needed breather from the parks.
American Adventure – This show can be found at the American Adventure pavilion in Epcot. It’s an audio-animatronic show featuring major American characters in major moments of American history, along with beautiful sets and music. It’s a very moving show and usually the only waiting you will do is waiting for the next showtime. If you do arrive a bit before the show starts, you will be treated to a singing group, the Voices of Liberty, who sing just in the show’s foyer. This group is very talented and they dress in period costumes!
Spaceship Earth – Spaceship Earth is a very unique attraction in that is located inside of Epcot’s icon and share’s the same name. Spaceship Earth is a slow moving attraction that takes guests back in time to see advances mankind has made throughout history. This attraction can have a lengthy line at certain points during the day, especially early in the morning, but the line moves very quickly and the ride itself is longer than most.
Hall of Presidents -This attraction is a patriotic, historical show at the Magic Kingdom featuring audio-animatronics of all of our country’s presidents. This show is housed in a beautiful theater and narrated by Morgan Freeman. It’s an amazing show to experience and because the theater can see large numbers of guests, there’s usually no wait except for waiting for the show to begin.
Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse – This classic, walk-through attraction can be found in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom. This treehouse is based off of the classic book and classic Disney film; and at the Magic Kingdom, you get to walk through the Robinson’s treehouse yourself and see how they used their surroundings to make a comfortable home. Since you can walk through this attraction, it is very rare to find a wait! But be sure not to rush through the treehouse as there are lots of details to see!
Mickey’s Philharmagic – This 3d movie in the Magic Kingdom rarely has a wait longer than the running of the movie (17 minutes). So if you arrive just before the previous showing lets out, you won’t have much of a wait at all. This movie really captures a lot of the Disney magic and it is a must see for everyone!
Walt Disney World Railroad – The Walt Disney World Railroad is both transportation and an attraction. The train station, and possibly the train, are the first things you see when you arrive at the Magic Kingdom. You can hop aboard a train here near the entrance and ride a mile and a half around the park, or you can hop aboard at the Frontierland station later on. It’s up to you! The railroad gives you a different view of the park and is enjoyable and relaxing for all ages. Also, the only waiting you will have to do is waiting for a train to pull into the station.
Country Bear Jamboree – This classic Disney attraction has been entertaining guests since Disney World opened in 1971. This show has been criticized as cheesy; but it’s also charming and you can’t help but smile. This show plays throughout the day at the Magic Kingdom and hardly ever has a long wait. It’s a great place to sit down, cool off, laugh a little, and young kids will enjoy it as well.
It’s Tough to be a Bug – Whether this show is good or not is often a topic up for debate since it seems to be geared towards kids and is funny, but yet a little too scary and the creepy-crawlers make guests want to run for the door. Despite what you think, this 3-D show almost always has a short wait.

But with so many options, and places to shop, how do you know if you are truly finding something unique? With a little research, and some careful planning, you can return home from your Walt Disney World vacation with some unique and memorable souvenirs. Epcot’s World Showcase: All of the shops found in Epcot’s World Showcase nations offer merchandise native to their individual countries. Here you can find souvenirs, candy, jewelry, perfume, and more from all around the world without ever leaving Florida!
Grand Floridian Resort and Spa: Unlike other Disney Resorts, the Grand Floridian has a variety of shops that offer both typical merchandise you can find everywhere and unique merchandise. Our favorite items to purchase at Grand Floridian are Disney Dooney and Bourke bags and Grand Floridian bathrobes! With the variety of shops and different merchandise, this resort is a shopping destination within itself.
Hollywood Studios: At the exit of many of Hollywood Studios attractions are gift shops selling unique merchandise reflecting the ride itself and its characters. For example, at the exit of Rock n’ Roller Coaster and Star Tours, you will find Aerosmith souvenirs and Star Wars merchandise! Tower of Terror also has a gift shop selling Twilight Zone products, Tower of Terror bathrobes, hotel keys, and other hotel items with the Tower of Terror logo! Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular also has a shop selling replica Indy hats, jackets, and posters around the corner from the show. Finally, one of our favorites is a little shack near the park’s entrance known as Sid Cahuenga’s. This shop sells film posters and autographed photos of major celebrities, past and present. It’s a definite stop for any movie buff!
Test Track: After exiting Test Track, you will be ushered into a showroom where you can get a glimpse of new cars that have been released! Guests are free to even sit in the cars and peer through the windows; and there are individuals nearby to answer any questions you might have about the cars. Who knew you could car shop at Disney World? There is also a gift shop selling Test Track themed merchandise, as well as hats, t-shirts, and more displaying different auto brand logos. Ladies, this is one shopping destination that men will enjoy!
Resorts: Disney’s deluxe resorts are known to have a variety unique merchandise that reflect their resorts that can’t be found anywhere else. Two of our favorites are Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Zwadi Marketplace and Wilderness Lodge’s Wilderness Mercantile. Zwadi sells great resort souvenirs, as well as carved animals, baskets, drums, and other African influenced items. Wilderness Mercantile sells great jackets and tees with the Lodge’s logo, as well resort artwork, carved souvenirs, natural beauty products, and plush characters in wilderness attire.

Traveling to Walt Disney World with little ones can be stress free if you know how to tour the parks. Many families have that “perfect” age child, going to Walt Disney World with a younger sibling along for the ride. Disney makes this trip extra easy with the Baby Care Centers found in each of the parks. The Baby Care Centers are not just a changing table! These are amazing, accessible to everyone in your family, and make your Disney trip less stressful and more magical.
If you are traveling with little ones, make sure you utilize the baby care centers in Walt Disney World theme parks. Often times, you will find yourself needing a quiet place to feed your child, change a diaper, or pick up a quick supply. That is where the Baby Care Centers come in handy! You can find basic supplies like diapers, food, wipes, even snacks and pacifiers! We had to stop by one to pick up an extra pacifier….you know how it goes when you lose one!
Baby Care Centers are in all 4 theme parks and each have their own theme inside. They are a perfect place to break away from the park to change and feed your little ones. Not only do they have changing tables, rocking chairs, nursing mom rooms, and restrooms they have a little mini drug store in there too. You never know when you might need some childrens Tylenol or Motrin. While we utilized the feeding and changing area, my older two {who were 5 at the time}, were able to sit in the waiting/lounge area and enjoy some cartoons and coloring pages. That made it so easy and family friendly!

Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park:
Magic Kingdom theme park features a Baby Care Center next to The Crystal Palace restaurant on Main Street, U.S.A. There is a lot of traffic going towards the Crystal Palace, but the restrooms and baby care center are not very busy. It’s next door to the First Aid Center.
Epcot
Epcot theme park features a Baby Care Center inside the Future World Odyssey Center. Basically in between Future World and the World Showcase on the Mexico Pavilion side. It is very quiet and peaceful here.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park features a Baby Care Center in the Guest Services Building inside the Main Entrance. While it’s convenient being at Guest Services, the area here is smaller than the other parks. However, it does serve its purpose. My suggestion would be to get in and get out.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park
Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park features a Baby Care Center located behind the Creature Comforts store in the Discovery Island area. From the Tree of life go left and keep going. It’s just before the bridge to Tusker House Area.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, Disney’s Blizzard Beach, and the Disney Springs area do not have a dedicated Baby Care Centers. However, the restrooms do have baby changing stations.
Next time you visit Walt Disney World with a little one, check out the Baby Care Centers. You will be glad you did!

The Kiss Goodnight at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park is something many guests miss because they don’t even know it exists. However, it is one of the greatest happenings in the Magic Kingdom…..yet most guests miss out on it. The Kiss Goodnight is 2-mintues in length, and is Disney’s way of saying “good night” to guests who are leaving Magic Kingdom.
The Kiss Goodnight occurs about every 30-minutes after the Magic Kingdom closes. So essentially you could see it multiple times on your way out of the park. It starts with Cinderella’s Castle twinkling. And then, the music to “When You Wish Upon a Star” starts playing as the castle lights up and twinkles. As guests are leaving Magic Kingdom Park, a narrator comes over the loud speaker and says, “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, on behalf of everyone here at the Magic Kingdom, we thank you for joining us today for a magic gathering of family, friends, fun, and fantasy. We hope your magical journey with us has created wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.
Walt Disney said that the Magic Kingdom is a world of imagination, hopes, and dreams. In this timeless land of enchantment, magic and make believe are reborn, and fairy tales come true. The Magic Kingdom is a place for the young and the young at heart. A special place where when you wish upon a star, your dreams can come true. Until we see you again, have a safe trip home. Thank you, and goodnight.”
It’s a final presentation that takes place at Cinderella’s castle and includes music, color-changing lights illuminating the castle, a 3 minute narration and even a wish goodnight from Mickey Mouse! It’s simply one last piece of the magic to experience and enjoy before heading back to your resort for a good night’s sleep. On most nights it will run every 30 minutes for an hour or so after closing. It’s not listed in the Times Guide, but most Cast Members will be able to tell you the next Presentation time.
On your next visit to Magic Kingdom, don’t hurry out of the park at closing! Be sure to stay around for an hour or so, to fully enjoy the Kiss Goodnight! It makes an amazing end to your Disney day!

Every little girl dreams of transforming into a princess. The Bibbidi Bobbed Boutique at Walt Disney World makes those dreams come true! There are two locations for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Walt Disney World, and this week I am going to share all about the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique with you!
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom Park: This location is found in Castle Couture, a little shop just on the other side of Cinderella’s Castle in Fantasyland. The Fairy Godmothers in Training transform children ages 3-12 into princesses and knights. After your session, there is an opportunity for a photo shoot, and these are included on your MemoryMaker package. Try to book a reservation at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom Park before a meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney Springs. This location is found in the Once Upon a Toy store at Disney Springs Marketplace. This location is larger than the Magic Kingdom location, and therefore can accommodate more appointments. If you can’t get into the Magic Kingdom location, no worries! Try to get an appointment at the Disney Springs location. This is great before heading to a princess meal, or even a fun activity to enjoy on a “no park day”.

In fact, many guests choose their Walt Disney World Resort based on the swimming pool. Yes, the Walt Disney World Resort pool is often a deciding factor when it comes time to choose a resort. They are just that awesome! One thing I love about the Walt Disney World Resort pools is that there are multiple pools at each resort. So if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing pool, you can certainly find one! Or, if you want to let your kids enjoy the water slide and pool side games, that is where the main feature pool is important! Today I am going to share the Five Best Walt Disney World Resort Pools with you!
Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort. Stormalong Bay is, in the opinion of many, the BEST pool at Walt Disney World. It is equipped with a waterslide, resembling a ship mast. The sand-bottom pool also adds a special touch to the “Beach Club” theming. Plus, it is unique in that it has a lazy river. There literally is not another pool at Walt Disney World like this one! Guests staying at the Yacht & Beach Club are in a for a huge treat with Stormalong Bay, and should definitely plan a pool day into their Disney itinerary!
Nana Volcano Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The Nanea Volcano Pool recently underwent a refurbishment at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The pool itself did not change. However, there is now a larger pool deck area, and the volcano structure around the amazing waterslide has been rebuilt. Unique to this pool is a hot tub with an infinity edge. How relaxing is that?! The best aspect of the Nanea Volcano Pool is the Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area. This is perfect for young children to get wet and splash around in a safe place!
Fuentes del Morro Pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. The Fuentes del Morro Pool at Caribbean Beach is fantastically fun. Of the moderate resorts, I really think this is the best pool in that category. First, it has two waterslides. One of them is 82-feet long, and you have to climb up a spiral staircase to get to the top of it! It is also very kid friendly. It has a zero-entry area for little ones. Also, the wading pool is huge! It is equipped with an aqua play area, squirt hoses, and three kid-sized slides. I like this one because it is very accommodating for families with children of various ages.
Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. At Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, you really can’t go wrong with any of the pools. However, the Big Blue Pool is the main feature pool, and next to Stormalong Bay, is definitely at the top of the list for best pools at Walt Disney World. It is the largest, as far as square footage, of the pools at Walt Disney World. Keep in mind that the pool does require you to scan your MagicBand when you enter. You are greeted by Nemo and his friends in the big blue. The pool area in general is a great place to hang out with your family. There are ping pong tables, a Nemo themed playground area, and a kids splash play area. This pool is truly a themed, immersive experience…..you can hear the Finding Nemo soundtrack when you are swimming under the water!
Beach Pool at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The Beach Pool has undergone some wonderful refurbishment in the last few years. It overlooks the Seven Seas Lagoon, and you definitely feel as if you are on a serene beach. The zero entry area is wonderful, and the large slide is perfect for the older kids, and adults in your family. In recent years, they have added an Alice in Wonderland themed water play area for young children in the pool area. One unique aspect is the walking bridge in the pool area. It makes a great family photo spot!

Packing for Walt Disney World ranks at the top of the list of activities I thoroughly enjoy. I mean, who doesn’t love to pack for a magical trip to Orlando? Mouse ears, light up toys, glow sticks, clothes for Disney bounding, and even a princess dress or two. And while those are “necessities” for your trip, you don’t want to forget the actual essentials. This week, we are going to talk about the five items you should not leave home without when you are on your next Walt Disney World trip!
Essential Item #1: Food. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan, that is awesome. Most, if not all of your food, will be accounted for during your stay. However, you still want to pack some food for your trip. You’ll want to have snacks and easy breakfast items handy for those early bus rides to the parks, waiting in line for attractions, or while waiting for Festival of Fantasy to pass by at Magic Kingdom. Pack dry foods, such as Goldfish, granola bars, little cups of dry cereal, and bagels. These are all easy, handy snacks and you’ll be glad! Don’t pack any sort of fruit snacks since they get yucky in your park bag in the Florida heat. Even if you are flying, you can fit these in here and there in your luggage. Or, you can easily ship them to yourself via Amazon Prime or a website such as WalMart.
Essential Item #2: Water bottles and flavor packets. We like to take the Brita Water Bottles with the filters in them. They clip nicely onto our stroller or park bag, and we keep them filled with the free ice water from the parks. Get free ice water, mix a flavor packet in it, and have a yummy, flavored ice cold beverage while you wait in line. Sometimes the Florida water can taste kind of funny, so having the water bottles with the filters in them is really nice.
Essential Item #3: Ponchos. I know, Florida is the “Sunshine State”. However, it also rains daily in Florida. That being said, we don’t let rain stop us at Disney! We take our ponchos and throw them in our park bags. They don’t take up a lot of room, and they are right there when we need them. They are also great to wear on something like Kali River Rapids, where you will get soaked. And, I have even been known to cover our stroller with one while we ride a few attractions. You never know if it will be raining when you exit a ride.
Essential Item #4: Laundry detergent. I like to throw in a few laundry soap pods, or a small travel size of laundry powder. I do NOT like doing laundry on vacation. However, when you are traveling with kids, it’s a good idea to be prepared! Laundry detergent doesn’t take up a lot of room. And it is one of those things I’d rather have and not need it, than need it and not have it.
Essential Item #5: A bag of bags. Before we leave home, I get a gallon size plastic bag and fill it with smaller bags. I fill it with a few plastic grocery bags, quart size zip bags, and snack size bags, as well as a few more gallon ones. These come in handy ALL the time. Whether it is to put dirty shoes in for the ride home, or to store extra clothes in your park bag for your little one, I never leave home without them. We also divide up snacks into the snack size bags for the parks. I am always glad I bring my bag of bags, no matter what.

Staying at a Walt Disney World Resort has its perks and advantages. With over twenty resorts on Walt Disney World property, how do you know which one will suite your family best? Is it REALLY worth it to stay on the monorail? Can you get by with double size beds for a 6-night stay at Walt Disney World? And does your little one need his or her own sleeping space? Those, and many other questions will help you narrow down your Walt Disney World Resort choice. Last week I shared with you Mistakes Guests Make at Their Walt Disney World Resort. This week, I am going to share Six Walt Disney World Resorts to Think Twice About to help you decide on the best Disney resort for your next stay!
Resorts #1, 2 and 3: Disney’s All Star Resorts. There are three resorts in this family. Disney’s All Star Music, Disney’s All Star Sports, and Disney’s All Star Movies. They also make up 3 out of the 5 Value Resort properties at Walt Disney World. You should think twice about staying at one of the All Stars for a few reasons. First, they are only equipped with double beds, and the rooms are very small. Second, they share buses amongst the three of them. Because of this, the wait times to and from the parks and getting to your dining reservations can be much longer than it needs to be. Third, they often host school or sports groups, making them crowded and loud.
Resort #4: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. This resort is often a “bucket list” resort for many families. I agree! I have even stayed here myself, and it was fantastically amazing and beautiful. However, you should think twice about staying at this resort if you want to be close to any of the Disney parks. Due to its location, it is not ideal, particularly if you are traveling with young children and want to go back to the resort to swim or rest. Its location alone is the only reason I think you should think twice about staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Resort #5: Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is huge. So huge that it needs its own internal transportation system. Not only is it huge and spread out, it is also a convention hotel. There are often meetings going on here, and it has a more “business” type of atmosphere. While it is beautiful, and often included in promotions, I think there are better resorts in the Moderate Resort Category that guests may enjoy better.
Resort #6: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. As much as I loved my stay here, it makes the list of resorts you should think twice about. I feel like for the price point, you can get in the Magic Kingdom area for a better rate and just as great as a location at Disney’s Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge Resorts. Disney’s Grand Floridian is on the monorail, and being on the monorail is worth it. However, I think that you get a bigger bang for your buck at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which are in that same area. Also, transportation here can be interesting. If you are just going to Magic Kingdom, it’s a breeze. However, to go to Epcot, you need to take a bus or transfer monorails at the Transportation and Ticket Center. Also, sometimes the buses are shared amongst the Grand and one or two other Magic Kingdom area resorts.

Did you know there are over twenty Walt Disney World Resorts to choose from for your Walt Disney World vacation? That is a lot of resorts to choose from! And let’s face it, your Walt Disney World Resort shouldn’t be seen as “just a place to sleep”. Every Disney Resort is somewhat of a destination in and of itself. Poolside movies, nightly activities, well themed pools, and magical fun tailored to each resort make them a great place to spend the afternoon while you are in Orlando. This week, we are going to explore the Mistakes Guests Make at Their Walt Disney World Resort.
Mistake Number One: Not knowing what type of resort you want. When you are trying to choose a Walt Disney World Resort, think of a hotel chain you have enjoyed in the past. Or perhaps your family will ONLY stay at one hotel chain when they travel. If so, that will help you narrow down your choices! Do you prefer a Hampton Inn when you travel? If so, then you will likely be unhappy at a Walt Disney World Value Resort. Do you enjoy the ambiance and amenities of the Marriott or Westin? Then you would likely enjoy a Deluxe Walt Disney World Resort. Think of where you have stayed in the past, and that can help you narrow things down.
Mistake Number Two: Not knowing the difference in the tiers of Walt Disney World Resorts. Did you know that Value and Moderate Resorts have doors that open directly to the outside? Whereas the Deluxe rooms open into the hallway. Or the value resorts, with the exception of Family Suites, have only double size beds? The Moderates and Deluxe have queen size beds. And if you need to book a King Bed, then you will want to book a resort in the Moderate category. There is more to the Walt Disney World Resorts than location on Disney property. If you stay at a Value, you will need to travel to another resort or into the parks for any table service dining because the values only have Quick Service Locations.
Mistake Number Three: Not considering the pool and other amenities of your resort. Think of the time of year you will be traveling. Will you need the pool to relax and recharge after a hot day in the parks? Or maybe you want to arrive at your resort and go straight to a neighboring resort for dinner. If so, then be sure to research your resort’s pools and location. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Port Orleans Riverside, and Disney’s Beach Club Resort all have the top pools on Walt Disney World property. Enjoying your resort for some down time, and the other amenities it has to offer, is a great addition to your Disney vacation.
Mistake Number Four: Not being aware of the Disney transportation options at your resort. The Deluxe Resorts, with the exception of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, are within walking distance, a short boat ride, or on the monorail to the parks. You can’t arrive at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and expect to be able to walk to Epcot. Sure, it is an “Epcot Area Resort”, but that doesn’t mean it is in walking distance. In the value category, Disney’s All Star Music Resorts share Disney motorcoaches amongst them. That being said, you could possibly be waiting longer than you need to when going to the parks in the morning. So plan accordingly if you are staying at an All Star.
Mistake Number Five: Assuming your Disney Resort is “just a place to sleep”. Maybe so, and for some guests who have been to Disney many times, that may be the case. When you are on vacation, you want to sleep well and be comfortable. For a family of five with two teenagers, that means every child has his/her own bed. Or a family with young children, maybe that means a quiet separate sleeping space to put the little one. If you are paying to stay on Disney property, consider your resort as a destination as well. Use your resort for an afternoon swim or rest. Enjoy the other resorts within that same area as well. Disney laid our their property in a very smart way. With the Epcot and Magic Kingdom Resorts being close to each other, take advantage of that and visit the resorts in the area. You can walk between Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside, and use their pools interchangeably. The same goes for the All Stars as well. And while you can’t pool hop between Art of Animation and Pop Century, you can certainly walk between the two and enjoy their food court and any resort activities they have as well.

Epcot park is one of my favorites to enjoy quick service dining. I feel like it is a great location to snack, try something new, and give yourself the opportunity to engage in new foods while wandering World Showcase. I think that everyone can use some Epcot Quick Service Dining Tips, and I am going to share those with you today!
Tip #1: Very few Quick Service locations at Epcot have a large menu. Epcot only has very few Quick Service Dining locations with an actual full menu. Sunshine Seasons and Electric Umbrella are among the two you will find with a full menu. So if you are planning on enjoying a quick service meal, these are your best options to give your family the most variety.
Tip #2: When you visit Epcot, consider it a culinary adventure. World Showcases houses foods from literally all over the world. In turn, this makes it a great place to share foods and try something new. Keep in mind, if you don’t care for food from another particular country, you likely won’t care for it at Epcot, either. On the other hand, if you LOVE good Mexican food, then you will satisfy your craving in the Mexico pavilion at World Showcase.
Tip #3: Plan a sit down meal at Epcot for breakfast or dinner, and snack or eat lightly for lunch. The amount of table service versus quick service restaurants at Epcot is pretty even. That being said, there is A LOT of good table service locations. Enjoy those for your larger meals, and save the World Showcase or kiosks for a snack lunch while you are in the park.
Tip #4: Don’t forget about the Boardwalk area. This area is easily accessed from the International Gateway, and is a favorite of many Epcot visitors because of its convenience. Here you will find Beaches and Cream, as well as the Boardwalk Bakery. Both of these locations have Quick Service Dining options, and make for a great break from the park.
Tip #5: Some foods in World Showcase are not on the Disney Dining Plan. This is really important to understand, so if you are planning on having a sandwich at the Kringla Bakeri, you are prepared to pay out of pocket for it instead of using your dining plan credits. It is considered a quick service location, but only the pastries and few smaller menu items are actually on the dining plan.
Overall, many favorite Epcot foods include Bavarian pretzels and caramel corn from Germany, nachos from Mexico, and pastries from Norway. You really can’t go wrong at Epcot with good food and a fun experience eating it. What is your favorite quick service food at Epcot?

Quick Service Dining is a wonderful addition to your Walt Disney World vacation. There are 10 foods you should try at Disney’s Quick Service restaurants, and I am going to share them with you today! Not every Quick Service location is the same, and with a little planning and research, you can have variety in your meals and menu options when eating Quick Service. Quick service dining is so much more than Mickey Ice Cream bars and hamburgers!
Disney’s Quick Service meals and snacks carry over from day to day on the Dining Plan. You can stretch these by sharing meals at the Quick Service restaurants-the portions are very large, so sharing is easy!
Flatbreads at Pinocchio Village Haus in Fantasyland~These are THE best. I even have one multiple times a trip, and I can count on this being an option my kids will enjoy as well. If you get a seat on the upper level, you can watch the boats from It’s a Small World while you eat.
Fried Shrimp Platter at Columbia Harbor House in Liberty Square~Even though Columbia Harbor House is very seafood focused, they still serve chicken nuggets…making it perfect for my family members who don’t care for seafood. I also love it because they have a variety of food on the menu, like Lobster Roll and Salmon. So you can really get a great meal here, at a Quick Service price.
Soft Pretzels at various park locations~It’s a toss up, whether my favorite are the Mickey shaped ones you can find at the snack cart in Tomorrowland…or the Bavarian pretzels in the Germany Pavilion. Either way, I have one of each every time we go because they are my favorite! And, they are huge, so we can easily share!
No Way Jose at Beaches and Cream at Disney’s Beach Club Resort~While Beaches and Cream is not technically “Quick Service”, they do have a walk up window that serves only ice cream that is quick service. That’s why the No Way Jose made the list! This decadent concoction of peanut butter, ice cream, and chocolate is amazing. I love that you can enjoy ice cream while you walk the Boardwalk area, or while walking over to Epcot’s World Showcase. You can’t go wrong with any ice cream treat from Beaches and Cream, but the No Way Jose is my absolute favorite.
Pizza at Wolfgang Puck Express and Disney Springs~The wood fired pizzas here are amazing. It’s also a great place to pay out of pocket, since your family can likely share two pizzas here. Also, they will bring your food to you, and sometimes refill your drinks for you if they aren’t super busy. We enjoy the atmosphere, and food here as well.
Pulled BBQ Pork Sandwich at Flame Tree BBQ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park~Really, anything at Flame Tree BBQ is very good. It all smells amazing, but the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich is my absolute favorite. I also enjoy the outdoor seating area at Flame Tree as well. It is unique, and has a nice view of the water.
Fruit and Nutella Waffle at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom~This is probably the most filling of any quick service menu item that I have eaten. I love it with blueberries and strawberries, no bananas. It is great to get and share while you have a spot for the Main Street Electrical Parade.

If you are traveling with an infant or even a young elementary school age child, you will likely be taking or renting a stroller at Walt Disney World. Our daughter started to visit Walt Disney World when she was 9 months old, and this fall will be her 7th trip. That being said, on our last trip to Walt Disney World, she was 5 years old, and we still rented a stroller for her. So having experienced Walt Disney World with strollers for many visits, I have tips for using strollers at Walt Disney World for you today!
Don’t think your child is too old for a stroller. Sure, there is an age when you are too old to be in a stroller. However, just because your 5 year old won’t be in a stroller for a trip to the local zoo, Six Flags, or shopping mall, consider letting him/her use a stroller at Walt Disney World. For one thing, it is easier to keep track of your child when he/she is in a stroller. Second, you can get places a lot faster when your young one is in a stroller. And, let’s face it…Disney involves A LOT of walking, and sometimes adults like to sit down and rest. Can you imagine those little legs and how tired they are? Since there is stroller parking at various places in each park, that is the perfect time to let your older child walk from attraction to attraction before getting back in to move on to another area in the park.
Park your stroller responsibly. In the Disney parks, there are designated stroller parking areas. You are not allowed to bring strollers into attractions. So please use the stroller parking areas. Try to line up your stroller with the rest of them, lock the wheels, and cover it with a rain cover or towel. If you park your stroller in a random spot, the CastMembers will move it to the stroller parking area for you. This is super nice of them, but can make it hard to find your stroller when you exit an attraction because you parked it one place, and the CM moved it. You never know when a rain shower might pop up, so it’s a good idea to cover it so your little one has a dry seat. Also, mark your stroller so it’s easy to find. There are some great tips for this out there on craft blogs and Pinterest. We choose to make a sign for our stroller, and secure it with bright ribbons. Another option is a bandana, or balloons tied onto the handles.
Keep your child cool. Be sure your stroller that you buy or rent has a nice sunshade on it. I am not a huge fan of umbrella strollers, as they often don’t have a good sunshade on them. Also, it’s a good idea to have an area where you can clip on one of those small cooling or misting fans. A stroller with a tray for a water bottle is a good idea as well.
Before you board Disney transportation, be prepared with your stroller. Strollers need to be folded on all Disney motorcoaches occasionally on boats and trains. A lot of times, you can just wheel your stroller right onto the monorail or a boat. But, if it is a peak crowd time, you may have to fold it. Before your bus comes, have your stroller folded, and ready to board the bus. This will make boarding the bus faster, and is a courtesy to other guests.
Bring your own or rent a stroller from an outside company. Do not rent one from the Disney parks. These are hard, plastic, uncomfortable, and hard to push. Most outside rental companies rent nice jogging strollers, or something like a City Mini. These are ideal in the parks! They will also bring the stroller to your resort, drop it off at Bell Services, and then you return it there on your last day. This is a huge time, and space saver, when you are traveling with little ones!

Disney’s Magical Express is a complimentary airport transportation service for guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort. The Magical Express will whisk you away to your Walt Disney World Resort, and even deliver your luggage right to your room! When you arrive in Orlando, we want you to be prepared, so we are sharing some tips this week on using Disney’s Magical Express when arriving in Orlando so you can begin your Walt Disney World vacation stress free!
Magical Express services one airport. Guests who want to use Disney’s Magical Express must have flights into and out of Orlando International. The airport code for Orlando International is MCO, so look for that when you are booking your flights. If you choose to fly into Sanford, which is a smaller Orlando based airport, you will need to rent a car or take a private shuttle service to your Disney Resort.
Guests are entitled to one roundtrip voyage on the Magical Express. This means you can take it to your resort, and back to the airport once. If you have members of your travel party arriving on slightly different days or flights, that is fine. However, you cannot take it to the resort, back to the airport to pick up a rental car, and then back to the resort after returning your rental. So be sure to plan accordingly.
The Magical Express runs as long as the airport is open. That being said, if you have a flight arriving in Orlando after 6PM, you may want to get you baggage yourself from the luggage carousels. It can take up to 3 hours for your baggage to be delivered to your room by the Magical Express, and you may not want a CastMember knocking on your door late in the night with your baggage.
Plan plenty of time when using the Magical Express. Disney’s Magical Express is a wonderful service, but it can also be time consuming. Plan two hours from the time your plane arrives in Orlando until you arrive at your resort. The Magical Express motorcoaches drop guests off at several resorts. So for example, if you are on a Magical Express motorcoach to Port Orleans Riverside, you will likely stop at Port Orleans French Quarter, Saratoga Springs, and maybe Old Key West as well. On your departure day, you will be picked up at your Disney resort 3 hours before your departing flight.
If you don’t receive your yellow Magical Express tags for your luggage, don’t fret. These are a great convenience, yet they can cause a lot of stress. These are the tags that signal to the airline employees that your bags need to be set aside and taken to Disney property. However, if you do not put your tags on them, you have two options. First, you can collect your bags from luggage claim yourself, take them to the Magical Express motorcoach with you, and when you arrive at your resort they will unload them right there with you. The second option is to not collect them from luggage claim, and instead proceed straight to the Magical Express Welcome Center. Give them your baggage claim tickets from the airline, and they will collect your bags for you and deliver them to your resort.

Experiences for preschoolers at Walt Disney World are everywhere! When you are traveling with a young child to the Walt Disney World Resort, you will want prepare yourself with a list of the best experiences for preschoolers. Traveling to Disney with a child at any age takes some planning, and the younger ones in your family are no exception! This week, we are sharing our 5 Experiences for Preschoolers at Walt Disney World!
Disney Jr, Live on Stage-This is found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and is a top must do for preschoolers. Join Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, and their Disney, Jr friends in a magical puppet show. There is plenty of space to dance and sing along with your preschooler’s favorite Disney Jr. friends while you can enjoy the air conditioning and a brief break from the parks. The wait for this is typically very short, and sometimes you will see a Disney, Jr. friend when you exit for an autograph and photo opportunity.
Meet Mickey at Town Square Theater- Town Square Theater is just inside the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park. Here you will find the talking Mickey Mouse, who will interact in a magical way with your family. He may even greet your child by name!
Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover-Also located at Magic Kingdom Park, you will find this quiet, soothing attraction over in Tomorrowland. This is about a 10-minute ride above Tomorrowland. You will board a moving tram, and enjoy a soothing and quiet ride while getting some great views of Tomorrowland and parts of Magic Kingdom Park. This is a great option when your preschooler needs some down time, and maybe some older siblings are enjoying Space Mountain or a nearby attraction.
The Boneyard Dig Site-You will find the Boneyard Dig Site at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. This play area is found in Dinoland U.S.A. While this area is rather large, and multi level, it still gives your little one lots of room to explore and play. It’s situated toward the middle of the park, so it makes it easy to stop after enjoying a few headliner attractions to get the wiggles out and enjoy some down time. Kids can swing, slide, climb, and dig in the sand for dinosaur bones!
The Seas with Nemo and Friends-Located in Epcot, over in Future World, this is a must do when you are traveling with a preschooler to Walt Disney World. You will board your Clamobile and start your journey with Nemo, swimming along as they retell his story. This is a GREAT way to introduce your child to some of the dimly lit rides at Walt Disney World. The bright colors, fun songs, and soothing motion makes it perfect for the younger ones in your family.

It is possible to have a relaxing Disney vacation. Like any destination, you do need to do some planning, and you want to make sure you are using your time wisely. On the other hand, it is possible to visit Walt Disney World and still have a relaxing Disney vacation. The first and foremost aspect of relaxing at Disney is realizing you can’t do it all, and you shouldn’t try to. This week, we are going to share some tips for a relaxing Disney vacation with you, in hopes that you can create magical memories with your family without raising your stress level.
Remove a few things from your “must do” list. There is no way you can do EVERYTHING on your list during an average 6 or 7-night Disney vacation. And, that is perfectly fine. Make a list of “must do” attractions, shows, and places to eat with your family. From there, reevaluate your list and remove a few things. Will your child be ruined for life if he doesn’t ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin? Likely not, because he will be so excited with the fact that you let him ride the Tomorrowland Speedway over and over again. Keep in mind your family will enjoy themselves, and many times they won’t even know what they are missing because they are enjoying the current magic right in front of them.
Plan non-park days. I cannot stress enough how important this is. Even if your arrival and departure days do not involve a visit to the parks, still plan one down day during your trip. You will want time to enjoy your resort~the Disney resorts are a destination in and of themselves~as well as some time to just enjoy your family. Let your kid swim in the pool, ride the monorail, or even hang out in your room to watch a movie.
Plan your Disney trip for the “off season”. It seems as if there is no guaranteed “off season” with Disney travel anymore. However, there are decidedly less crowded times of the year to enjoy the parks. Arriving on a weekend day is often a good plan, and then enjoy the parks during the week when the locals have left from the weekend.
Eat whenever you want. I know, we encourage you to book dining 180-days in advance. And while that is a great plan, and will help relieve some stress while you are there, there is something to be said for being flexible with your meals. This can be accomplished one of two ways. First, add the Quick Service Dining plan to your package. This allows you to include meals, as well as eat at locations that don’t require reservations. The second way is to download the My Disney Experience app, and do a reservation search the night before or that same day. You never know what will pop up, and you may get to enjoy a nice sit down meal at the “last minute”.
Utilize the Evening Extra Magic Hours. The Evening Extra Magic Hours are much better, in my opinion, than the morning ones. I feel like you can enjoy more attractions without the heat of the day in the evening. Plus, it gives your family a chance to sleep in and rest in the morning and then plan on staying later in the parks.
I am a huge planner, and enjoy the process of planning trips for my own family, and others. However, I also respect the fact that Disney can be enjoyed without a detailed plan and that being flexible and okay with going with the flow can give you a magical trip experience!

Traveling with teenagers to Walt Disney World can be fun for everyone! Do you think Walt Disney World is just for “little kids”? Many people do, but it is not! There are so many families that travel to the Walt Disney World Resort every year, with children of all ages in their family. Take my family for example, comprised of two children that are 13 and one that is 6! Or what about the family with children who are all over the age of 11? Traveling to Walt Disney World with older kids can be fun and magical for the whole family! Think about it….they don’t need naps, they can stay up to enjoy those super late Extra Magic Hours, and they’re tall enough to ride everything! There is much fun to be had at the Magic Kingdom after 11PM during Extra Magic Hours!
Involve your teenagers in the planning process . There are some interesting Walt Disney World guidebooks out there, many that provide even fun facts about Walt Disney World. Encourage them to choose some restaurants they would like to try. Give them the opportunity to make a list of the top attractions they don’t want to miss, and even let them have a say in where you stay!
Choose a resort that gives everyone plenty of space. This can come in a variety of ways. Perhaps a Family Suite at Disney’s All Star Music or Art of Animation Resort is the answer. Or, a one or two bedroom villa at one of the Deluxe properties. If a Deluxe is not in your budget, consider two rooms at a value or a moderate category resort. This gives everyone plenty of sleeping space, two full bathrooms, and room to spread out. Teens like their own space, and having the option of spreading out to hang out while not in the parks can make everyone happier!
Use the Disney vacation as an opportunity to expose them to nicer dining and even more eclectic foods. Any child of any age can be picky when it comes to eating, but teengaers are more likely to venture out and try something new. Plus, they can sit longer through a sit down meal, giving you the opportunity to try some of the great, more diverse dining locations at Walt Disney World. Another great dining opportunity at Disney is getting dressed up for a nice dinner at a location like California Grille to watch the fireworks!
Sleeping in is a good idea. Most teens like to sleep. So if they want to sleep in, you can easily plan around that. In turn, this gives you an easier start to your day, and the opportunity to enjoy the Evening Extra Magic Hours until the wee hours in the morning.
Give them their own time in the parks. If you are a family like ours, traveling with a child who is quite a bit younger, you may consider splitting up for a few hours during the day. One parent can take the younger one back to rest or swim, while the others spends some quality time in the parks with the older two. This gives them the opportunity to ride some of the more thrilling attractions, explore the parks from a different perspective, and spend some one on one time with a parent.
Plan some down time. Older kids will enjoy shopping at Disney Springs, visiting the miniature golf courses at Walt Disney World, and even the Boardwalk area. Plus, hanging out at the pool and getting some sun and relaxation is a “must do” for everyone in your family!
Let the kids be kids. Even though my older two are pushing the teenage years, they still like to have a fun character breakfast with Mickey and his friends. Don’t underestimate that they are still your kiddos, and doing a Disney trip and being a kid is part of the fun! Your teen might surprise you, and want to ride It’s a Small World more than once!
Explore Walt Disney World activities specifically for older children and adults. Many of the tours of the Walt Disney World Resort only allow children over the age of 10 and some over the age of 16.
