Often, we overlook or take for granted what we have right near home. Be a tourist in your own town to save on entertainment costs!
What does your town/city have to offer and how often do you actually utilize it? If there is a museum, local park or other location in town you drive by all the time but never stop at, it is time to do so!
If nothing else, you are saving on gas costs by staying local! Exploring local parks, waterfalls, hiking trails and museums make for low or no cost entertainment. Check if you get a discount for being a resident, or if certain times/days of the week are cheaper to visit. Also check your town library for museum passes as another way to save on local entertainment.
Today, my family and I went to a local historical site. Fun fact about my town, Franklin Pierce (14th President of the United States of America) was born here. Above is a photo of his homestead that we explored today! Even better, for being residents we only paid $8 admission (a $7 savings compared to what out of staters would pay).
