This is just one of many stories I have heard of Disney making a families vacation MAGICAL! Beth shared her experience with a trip she had planned for a week before Hurricane Matthew hit. I wanted to share this magical Disney moment with all of you.
To say my family loves Disney is an understatement! We love it so much that we talk about it often, have weekly Disney movie night, have many Disney collectibles, listen to Disney music, daydream about our next trip, and even check wait times on our Disney Experience app just to see what it’s like when we are not there. So, when we booked our first Disney Cruise in February, we were even more excited! We planned a three day cruise and were going to follow it up with a couple of days in the Disney parks, with a potential trip to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party.
We were ready to set sail with our pirate night gear, on boat Halloween party costumes, matching Disney shirts, and even decorations for our door. The week before our vacation, Hurricane Matthew came; the day before we were to leave on vacation, we received word that our cruise had been cancelled. We were SO sad because we had looked forward to it for so long, but we completely understood why it had to be cancelled. Trying to still piece together a vacation for our two daughters, we called Disney to see if they could get us in a hotel for an extra two days from what we had already planned. After being on hold for quite a long time, we finally got moved to the Pop Century resort with the help of our friendly cast member. We were still a little anxious about traveling to Florida after a hurricane. When we spoke, I asked about their hurricane preparations, and the cast member made me feel totally at ease that the situation would be handled safely. We were on our way! When we arrived to check in, we told the desk cast member about our cancelled cruise and what our plans were going to be for the next few days, including a possible trip to the Halloween party. The cast member asked for a moment and stepped away. When she returned, she gave us four free tickets to the Halloween party!!! We were shocked that they would do this for us and it was such a blessing! This display of generosity blew us away!
Even though our vacation didn’t go originally as planned, we had an AMAZING time! From the people we spoke to on the phone to the young lady at the desk, it definitely reaffirmed how much Disney cares about their customers. Disney has always held a special place in our hearts, and this is one of the many reasons we love Disney! We just wanted to express our gratitude for such a wonderful act of kindness from Walt Disney World. Thank you Disney for providing our family with so many wonderful memories and showing exceptional customer service! We hope to see ya real soon!
