Boathouse is so good, its a must at least once! Jason and I went their for an early Valentine’s Day date. As you all know on Valentine’s day everything is packed. For that reason we usually celebrate it early or late. I shared with Brandy (you know my friend that helps with Swagbucks and LuLaRoe) that we had went there. She told me it was one of her bucket list restaurants at Disney. We decided that while she was at my house working with LuLaRoe we would go to lunch at Boathouse and Swagbucks was going to pay for it! Both of us use Swagbucks for things that we want but normally couldn’t afford such as Boathouse. It is very pricey!
It just so happened she was at my house Valentine’s week. That was the only time that worked for both of us. Her grandma helps her with her children and was going to be out of town for 2 months. She wanted to come before her grandma left and she didn’t want to wait until after she came back.
Just like most Disney restaurants the theming is spectacular! You are truly transported to another place. I felt like I was in an Atlantic coastal town eating on the bay at a local mom and pop restaurant. The service was exceptional both times I ate there. Which makes you feel much better about paying a small fortune for a meal!
As soon as you are seated immediately bread is placed on your table with this butter that has a ton of flavor added in. It reminds me of the Outback butter that is given with the bread, only way better! They gave us each 2 regular size rolls to start with. As soon as the server noticed the bread was gone he asked if we wanted more. That is always a good thing. Especially if you have small children with you that only like a handful of foods. We both ordered sweet tea and it was freshly brewed which is nice. Most Disney restaurants don’t have freshly brewed sweet tea. It’s usually out of a soda machine.
Brandy loves raw oysters. She ordered only one since they are $4.00 each! I had never eaten raw oysters before and decided to try one. You only live once right! She said it was fresh, delicious, and the sauce really enhanced the flavor. I on the other hand will NEVER eat one again. It was like a slimy ball of goo going down. I am glad I experienced it but never again!
I ordered the Yacht Club for $17.50, it came with a generous serving of french fries (these were fresh cut). Two adults could of easily shared it. It was very good! I would order it again. Brandy ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with coleslaw for $25.00. She said it was very tasty and was mostly crab meat. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp not to vinegary. Her’s was not enough to share. She ate everything where as I had about half of mine left. We skipped dessert as with most Disney restaurants we left feeling stuffed.
Overall it was a nice atmosphere, service was exceptional, and the food was delicious. I would eat here again in the future with other adults. I recommend eating here if you are on the dining plan or looking for a special meal for date night. This is not a place I would take my children. I don’t think they would enjoy it for a few reasons. They aren’t big seafood fans. There is a ton of other choices that are better suited and themed for children at the same price or less.
