Of all the movies that were slated to come out this year, I was super excited for “Soul”. Given the “Inside Out” vibes and Pixar’s ability to make even curmudgeonly ole me bawl, this one has the makings of a devastatingly beautiful movie.
However- movies keep getting pushed back, theaters are closing (again) and it was beginning to look like it would be 2021 until we got to view Soul.
Well Merry Christmas to me, and to you, and you and you. According to Disney, Soul is coming to Disney+ exclusively- and on Christmas Day (12/25)! Even more importantly, there will be no additional streaming fee. Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!
In international markets where Disney Plus isn’t available, “Soul” will be released theatrically at a date that will be determined in the future.
Soul was originally supposed to release in June, then was pushed back to late November.
Soul is about a middle-school music teacher (voiced by Jamie Foxx) who dreams of being a jazz performer. Before his big break, he gets in an accident that causes his soul to be separated from his body. He’s then transported to the “You Seminar,” where he teams up with 22 (voiced by Tina Fey) to return his soul back to his body on Earth before it’s too late.
I can not wait! This will be a great thing to do this Christmas Day, after we’re all resting from the excitement of presents. I foresee hot chocolate, popcorn and snuggling under the blankets while we watch!
