Alexa does so many things besides just lists and orders! When you take into account all the options and features she comes with. The price of an Alexa seems like a bargain! If the Alexa seems to steep of a price for you check out Dot. Its a smaller version for about half the price. The sound quality isn’t the same as Alexa but you can still do most of the same things.

Do you own an Alexa or Dot? If not you need one ASAP! The whole point is to save money not spend it, right. It might seem counterproductive to spend $70.00 on an Alexa at first. I am going to explain to you how Alexa can help you save money and time. After all time is the most valuable asset we have. Alexa can save you tons of money by helping you make shopping lists, guiding you thru a shopping experience hands free, by reading you options, prices, and placing the order for you. I know this seems a little like you are part of an episode of the Jetson’s. I promise you this is real life!
Are you ever cooking dinner and run out of something? Happens to me all the time. Before Alexa one of the following scenarios would occur 90% of the time. Scenario 1, I would think, I will add it to my list later, only to forget all about it. Flash forward 2 weeks later. I am making my favorite pasta dish, only to realize I am out of pasta. Then I have to either make something else or stop what I’m doing and go to the store for pasta. Scenario 2, I stop what I am doing at that moment and write it down on my list. Thinking next time I am meal planning I will write it down on my grocery list. While doing my weekly meal plan, I forget to check the running list I keep on the fridge of what we are out of. I don’t discover this until I am at the store shopping. It never fails, no matter how short that list is. I won’t be able to remember what I was out of. I know I am not the only one with this issue.
Alexa has a list and reminder feature built in. There is also an Alexa app that syncs with Alexa automatically. When I first got Alexa I told her to make a grocery list. Now every time I run out of something I say “Alexa add xyz to the shopping list.” Just imagine, if you can, how easy it is to say “Alexa add xyz to the shopping list” while you are cooking. It doesn’t require you stop what you are doing all it takes is your voice. The best part is I have trained my kids, husband, and grandma to do the same. Now instead of them telling me what they are out of and expecting me to remember it. They know to tell Alexa to add what it is we are out of or they need to the shopping list. When I am meal planning, I just go to the Alexa app and click grocery list. If for some reason I forget, I can open the app while in the store and see what exactly it was we where out of. After I purchase the item. I click the little circle next to the item. Alexa moves it to the completed area. It is so seamless and easy. All you need is your voice, an Alexa, and the app.
By having the shopping list feature on Alexa and the app. I have saved tons by not guessing and grabbing random items. Only later at home to discover I grabbed the wrong item. Or by having to make a quick trip to the Dollar store. Dollar Stores are not cheaper for most items. It might appear that way. You will spend less money but when you compare the price per ounce. Its usually double what your traditional grocery store or big box store would charge for the same item. You will pay less up front since most of there items come in smaller packages. But in the long run it is very expensive to purchase items from the Dollar store.
Another trick Alexa has that saves you time is by guiding you thru a purchase. All you have to do is say the type of product you are interested in or the specific brand you want to purchase. Example, “Alexa what cat food options do I have or Alexa what is the cost of Purina cat food?” She will then start giving you options including the price. Then you confirm which item or items you would like. She will then confirm the price with you. After you say okay order it or something of that sort. She places the order. Amazon charges your card on file. It is so simple!
If you live in select markets all larger cities. You have the option of placing an order from Whole Foods for fresh organic foods. You just tell her what to add to your cart. Check out with your voice and within few hours your order will be delivered to your door. There is an added fee for this service. It is not something I would use if available to me. However, I can see how its very helpful for busy families.

How much did I earn:
On to the question of the day how much did I earn towards my Disney fund this go around! Swagbucks has been slow for me. I ride the SB wave! Usually as the month goes on the offers and surveys get better. In the beginning of the month its super slow. For that reason, I have just gotten in the habit of not putting to much energy into SB until around mid month. That is why my SB earnings have been low the past 2 weeks. Here its already warming up. My husband has been focusing on getting our garden cleaned out and replanted for spring. He hasn’t even looked at Swagbucks this week.
My biggest earner this week was World Winner for 2,560 from Adgate it when it was double. I did have to deposit $10.00 that isn’t refundable. I haven’t even really tried to many surveys. I earned 150 from surveys and swag ups, 8 from swag codes, 80 from an Atkins free sign up offer, 100 from coupon prints, and 15 from survey disqualifications. That makes my total earned from SB this past week $19.75 after the $10.00 for World Winner!
I did purchase my first $200.00 Southwest gift card! Raise had an offer last week for 10% off select travel gift cards. I found one for 5.1% off plus the 10% off additional that saved me $22.88!
2/6 – 2/11
My Swagbucks – $19.75
My Husbands Swagbucks – $0.00
Found money in my purse $12.86
Total: $32.61
Total to date – $539.23
Southwest Gift Card – $177.12 for a $200.00 balance
Money Remaining in my Disney fund – $362.11
(Thanks, Brandy)
