Crayola knows how to take care of its customers! Once upon a time long long ago, back when I first began my frugal living journey, over 9 years ago. I was introduced to this genius idea by my favorite blog CouponingtoDisney. Kristin taught me how to call, email, or write to companies of products that you loved in hopes of getting high value coupons. She also taught me to kindly complain if something wasn’t right. It is your hard earned money after all. Here is a link to a post explaining more! You do have a choice in just about every product known to man. These companies know that!
Valentin (11 years old) was only 2 when I first discovered the frugal living lifestyle. He hasn’t known any other version of me. I am proud to say my frugal living habits have rubbed off on him. He decided this year since he is going into middle school. That he needs a planner and cool markers to color code things. Last week he got my husband to take him to Walmart to buy a pack of those scented Crayola markers. After he got home, he was sad to notice the brown one had damaged plastic around the tip. I told him we would just take them back next time. He said, “It’s okay I will handle it.” I thought okay whatever that means!
I went and sat down to work. Thinking nothing much of it. 10 minutes later he walks in on the phone asking me what my email was. I said,” Who are you talking to?” He says,”Crayola, I called about my damaged marker.” At that moment, I felt like job well done! My habits had rubbed off on him. We have tried so hard to teach my children the value of money and frugality. No one really taught my husband or myself about money. When we first got married, like many newly weds, we overspent, and before we knew it had $30K in consumer and car debt. We have both made it our mission as parents to make sure our kids have good money habits and avoid our mistakes.
Crayola told him they would send him two $5.00 coupons. He was thrilled! Yesterday all of this arrived. They really hooked him up. He got a pencil pouch with a few crayons, colored pencils, clay, and markers. The coupons, stickers, stencils, coloring sheets, and informational papers.
