Wednesday morning, June 29th, 2011, we renewed our vows at our church with our closest family present. It was a very small, intimate ceremony and we like to joke that we did it in New York City’s Time Square. It was this year’s Vacation Bible School theme and we didn’t want to make them move all the decor. Plus we think it added character to the service.
After the service we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. One of my reader’s husband happens to be the manager there and she had read that we were planning on going there after the ceremony. He went out of his way to make the meal extra special for us including making Mickey Mouse shaped biscuits. It was a wonderful meal and it was so nice being able to share it with my loved ones.
My mother dropped the 2 of us off at the airport around noon. Luckily the 2 flights went off without a hitch and we were on the ground in Orlando right on time. Since we flew, we were able to use Disney’s Magical Express service. Unfortunately we got there just as the bus arrived and we had to wait 30 minutes before it departed. However, waiting without kids was not difficult at all! We sat back and had a great conversation about our 10 years of marriage and our plans for the next 10 years.
Finally we arrived at the Polynesian around 8 pm. We had done the online check in, so they already had our room keys, maps, information and more ready to go. And since it was our Honeymoon, they gave us fresh flower leis, Anniversary pins and Happily Ever After pins to wear. We headed straight to our room and were amazed that it turned out to be in the building where we had seen our baby’s rainbow in January.
My friend had called ahead and ordered us a set of Mickey and Minnie wedding ears that were waiting on us in the room. We wore those for the majority of our trip. They are way too cute. It was our very first pair of ears too even though it was our 4th trip.
For dinner that night, we went to Ohana’s for their Polynesian Cuisine dinner. It took a while to get seated since they were trying to get us a table where we could view the fireworks from Magic Kingdom. They got us seated just in time and they dimmed the lights, played the Wishes’s music and we were able to enjoy the fireworks. It was a great view too.
The dinner was delicious, but we learned a lesson during that meal. Always order a glass of water plus your beverage. We didn’t get a refill during the entree portion of the meal and it’s difficult to eat without something to drink. Since it was the last seating of the day, we also couldn’t manage to get the attention of any passing waiters either. So every meal after that, we made sure we had water as well. Other than that, the meal was delicious (best steak we had ever eaten) and we would definitely dine there again.
It was a perfect evening to close a perfect day. It was well worth the 10 year wait.
I just read all your posts about this trip. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing. It was so enjoyable. You are blessed.
Congrats on your renewal of your vows and mini trip!!!!
Congrats! Our 10 year anniversary was June 30th, we too went to Disneyworld to celebrate. We however went in early May to avoid crowds and went without the kiddos as well. It was great being a kid in a magical place with my best friend!
What a great day!
How wonderful! Can’t wait to hear about the rest of your trip. I’ll live vicariously through you, lol!
Sounds like an awesome first day!!
