Are you setting sail for a Disney Cruise Line voyage this fall? Or maybe over the holidays on a Very MerryTime Cruise? If you’re like me, you have booked your cruise for the winter months to escape the cold weather that will be coming to your area! Regardless of when you are setting sail on the high seas with Disney Cruise Line, many first time cruisers have some questions that need to be answered! I’m excited to take some time with you today to share some Disney Cruise Line First Timer Tips!
May I bring my own food onboard Disney Cruise Line? Yes! Disney Cruise Line allows you to bring on pre packaged snacks. They need to be sealed, in their original packaging, and in your carry on. Should you choose to take, for example, a box of granola bars off the ship at a port, anything that has been opened and not entirely consumed needs to be left behind.
Is there a limit to what I can order at my meals? No. A great aspect of Disney Cruise Line is that all your food is included in the fare. That means at dinner, you can order as many appetizers, entrees, desserts, etc that you would like. And, the server will also help you make substitutions to meet any dietary restrictions that you may need to accommodate.
Are there fireworks to enjoy on Disney Cruise Line? Yes! It’s not the grand fireworks show you may see from land at the parks. But, they are still spectacular! You have your own private fireworks show over the sea, and it’s so magical!
What type of room category should I book on my voyage? Personally, I think an oceanview room is fantastic. This can either be with a verandah or a porthole. I like to see the outside, and even though Inside Staterooms are perfectly fine for many guests, part of the fun of a cruise is seeing the ocean! I say splurge for at least an Oceanview!
Do I need extra spending money on the ship? Possibly. If you want to enjoy specialty beverages such as coffee, smoothies, and fun alcoholic drinks you will need to pay out of pocket for those. Your Port Adventures are a separate charge as well. Be sure to plan on gratuities, as well as snacks at the live shows.

Make sure to order your pictures at Shutters while you’re still on board the ship! Unlike the parks, pictures taken by the pros on the ships are no longer available once you disembark.
