Welcome back on the Disney Wonder… I’m Crazy Mom your Cruise Director. We’ve had some wonderful time on the Disney Island and now it’s time to get ready for dinner…. Did I say dinner?? Yup… I know you’ve been eating all day, from sun up to sun down.. You can eat on the Disney Ship as much as you want and as often as you want.
The food on the Disney Cruise ships is phenomenal, we love to have Breakfast at Beach Blanket, which is a Buffet and they have a lot of different options; it’s quick in and quick out and you are ready for the day. If you rather have a slow start to your day or if it’s a Sea day I would really recommend you have a sit down breakfast at Triton’s. We never did any of the Sit down breakfasts, we’ve always been too busy and wanted to do and see things, our last cruise in July we had decided on the day we dock in Nassau to just stay on the ship and have a lazy family day; it was wonderful.!!!!!!!!!.
We’ve been to Nassau a few times and didn’t see the need to go again so we slept in got up and all went to a sit down Breakfast… ohhh best decision ever.. The food was ala card.. and ohh soo yummy… wonderful service as well. Litterly, the only thing you have to do is sit yourself down and eat, everything else your server will handle.. even put your napkin on your lap and he even spoiled the kids by cutting up their food, helping them drink and eat.. anything so mom and dad could relax… was amazing…. you should have seen the food…
After we finished breakfast we enjoyed the entire day on deck, hardly anyone is on the ship while you are in port… this is a wonderful time to enjoy the pool, the kids play area just anything. The cool part is that even though you are in port and everyone is out and about….. The characters still have their appearance and we had times where Mickey was at the pool and NO one, I mean NO one came to see Mickey for 15 minutes.. We played with the characters and had a bunch of fun… Stitch was the funny one; we love to goof off with him… so that is a great Mickey and friends opportunity for your family to enjoy…..
Once Lunch time rolled around you have lots of choices, you can grab a quick bite of pizza, which is open all day long, grab some chicken strips and fries or head over to Beach Blanket for a Buffet that is out of this world… and of course your waiter and friends are all there to wait on you hand and foot… if you haven’t noticed yet, they SPOIL YOU !!!!!
The Buffet for lunch is really cool, they have different themes each day, one day it’s seafood and Pasta Bar ( of course they have regular food like chicken, Mac n cheese pizza etc..)…the pasta bar has a pasta chef cook and mix the pasta with the sauce that you create.. so cool…. other days they have a sushi chef and he prepares your favorite sushi right there ( and of course that is on top of the regular menu that you like to eat)…. last time we went, our waiter was already waiting for us ( I swear he had a GPS on us and knew exactly when we were coming every day)…..and I remember he asked if I liked sushi and I love sushi, so I told him I would go after I fed the kids and grab some yummy sushi… not even 2 minutes later he came to our table with two full plates of all different assortments of sushi and put it on the table… it was wonderful… You get to know your server and that is so much fun… The last 3 times we went we saw each of our servers and they all ( well at least they pretend I’m sure) remember you.. some do remember and ask how the kids are and remember some of your food ( but then we were traveling with a friend who takes 5+ cruises a year… he knew everyone like family..lol)….
Once you got over your lunch… you really need a nap…. Let me tell you… you really shouldn’t start your diet on a Disney Cruise…lol… My Tween was funny, last time we went, a week before I noticed he ate less and one day I mentioned to him if he was okay, his response was “Mom, I’m on a diet till we go on the cruise and the minute we hit the ship I’ll eat 24/7… and no kidding he did… in every picture he has food….. :-)”
After lunch you can spend the day at the Mickey pool or in the Theaters watching one of the newly released movies… and relax till dinner rolls around… yup… more food… On the Disney Cruise ship there are two seating times, depending on which seating you have you go to dinner I think at 5:30pm and 7:30pm, but if you go at 7:30 you have a dinner show starting at 5:30 and if you have dinner at 5;30 your dinner show is at 7:30… that way everyone gets to enjoy the wonderful musicals that Disney puts on. We love the Toy Story Musical… but will tell you more about that later…..
For dinner, again you have a choice to grab a quick bite on deck or have a wonderful sit down dinner, there are 3 dinner restaurants, well actually if you want an adult night out you can pay a $15 cover charge and have a romantic dinner at Palos( soo worth it..yummy)…so make that 4 wonderful dinner restaurants… each night you will rotate and spend dinner at a different restaurant with different cuisine, however your server will follow you…. and will have your table ready with drinks waiting for you….
Here is a little tip.. if your family likes cheese platter or seafood platter let your server know at the first Dinner and ask him if he can arrange a platter for your table… and you will be surprised… the next dinner time… wow… we had 2 plates full of coconut shrimp waiting for us, or one time we had a HUGE cheese platter waiting, each night for the entire cruise our server did that (now that deserves extra tip!!!)…… hardly anyone knows that sooo ask your server… we always ask for Chocolate covered Strawberries… and he always puts them on the table for dessert…. again no one ever orders that because they don’t know.
On our last cruise the table next to us half way through the cruise kept asking us how we got so lucky and get Coconut Shrimp each night, we shared our shrimp that night with them and our secret… guess who had shrimp the next night….:-) It is soo much fun… so remember ask your server for extra goodies… sometimes they may not have what you want but they work to get what you want …… just make sure to leave room for a 3 course meal… and it’s sooo yummy….. I however would not recommend you get an alcoholic beverage at dinner.. they are outrages priced… so just beware… anything Non-alcoholic is free and part of your cruise ticket…..
Once your dinner is over you will have lots of fun at the shows or in the club area.. and yup guess what.. they have snack bars everywhere… so fill on up….since you haven’t really had enough food all day…:-)
If you rather have a quiet dinner, room service is included 24 hrs a day ( except the last day it’s only till 10pm I think)… anything you want even Mickey Ice Cream they will deliver to your stateroom… I remember when my Toddler was little each night I asked for Chocolate chip Cookies and warm Milk… * that’s not on the menu but they do offer it… and soo yummy*…
As for any of the meals, snacks or any food or drink you can take that ANYWHERE on the ship.. if you are going to watch a movie.. they have a little concession stand there with candy and stuff, very High priced… I’m cheap.. I send my kids on deck to get drinks and ice-cream and chicken if they want and bring it to the show.. you are allowed to do that and it’s FREE!!! You can also bring anything to your Stateroom if you rather eat there…. Our dinner server one night had my entire meal delivered to the room because I wasn’t feeling well and didn’t come to dinner… he even ordered Chocolate covered Strawberries and they brought it all to the room, while the rest of my party had dinner in the dining room…..
I hope you enjoyed a little of our dining experience on the Disney wonder and find out tips and tricks helpful… till we meet again… Ahoy Mate.. Your Cruise Director Crazy Mom……
