Welcome back on the Disney Wonder… I’m your Cruise director Crazy Mom…. We’ve explored the Island, the ship and had a party… how about lets meet some of the characters that you can expect when you are on a Disney Cruise… I already mentioned that Characters are almost everywhere and will pop up at anytime, so keep your eyes open. But there are also scheduled appearances for the characters like at the pool, they will be out from 2-4 usually and each character comes for 15 minutes, you can expect Pluto, Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Stitch, Chip & Dale, Captain Hook sometimes as well…. Besides the deck you can find the characters in the main Lobby for photo shoots, most of the time they are all dressed up for “fancy” pictures, they have a photographer there to take pictures of you and your party, just like they do at Disneyworld, but you can take your own, and they help you with taking pictures if you want your entire party in a picture.
You can also expect the characters to meet and greet your little ones throughout the cruise in the kids club and even the nursery… they just walk in spend some time with the little ones and goof off and then walk back out.. Just like they are passengers on the ship… it’s soo cool… There are hardly ever crowds around the characters and that makes it nice, sometimes you have a 5 min wait and for the princesses it may be a little longer wait because they don’t come out as much, but a little tip if a character appearance is from let’s say 10-11 wait till like 10:45 to get in line, most of the time no one is there. We walked the ship one evening and the princess and the frog was sitting just there by herself and no one in line, we spend a good 15 minutes playing with her and no one came up, after 15 minutes she left ( her scheduled time was up) and the photographer told us that Snow White would be out in the same spot tomorrow at 7:30AM; that wasn’t scheduled but a little insider tip J I was so ,much fun to spend that extra time with your characters and take pictures and interact.
Also as another insider tip, if you have been on 10+ Disney Cruises you become what they call “platinum member”. There are many perks to being Platinum.
- Platinum members always get the first boarding round, which means your vacation starts sooner and you can party right away on deck
- Platinum gets a complimentary dinner at Palos the adult only restaurant ( the one with a cover charge of $15) for everyone in his/her stateroom
- Special behind the scene tours ( we did the Musical Production on how the stage works and all the behind the scene stuff, was soo cool to see)
- Cheese Platter in your room upon arrival
- Plus all the perks Silver members get
If you go 2 and more times you will be a Silver member and you get:
- A holder for your key that you can put around your neck
A welcome back gift in your stateroom, usually a cool Mickey Beach Bag, and some other cool Mickey gifts along with the Rice Crispy Treats ( will change each time)
Some tips about Autographs on the ship… you can buy an autograph book like you do at Disney World, BUT why lug that around all the time, a little tip from Crazy Mom is to bring your autograph book and your sharpie, or some other item you like to get autographed, we always bring a Picture Frame Mat, other cruise travelers I heard bring Pillow cases and don’t forget your Sharpies… put it all in a Ziploc baggie or a plastic bag and take it to the front desk the very first day of your Cruise and ask for the characters to sign this. Hey will return it the last night of your cruise into your Stateroom….
Last year I found cool Mickey and Minnie Books at Walgreens for like $2.50 on Clearance we took them and had each character sign a page, as well as our Frame mat. I also always bring a few bags of candy for the “crew” that helps Mickey and Crew sign the Memorabilia… since from what I was told Cast members take care of those little magical memories on their own time and love candy….. I’ve never had a complaint… and they love it…J
Check out our memorabilia from our last trip…. Not a lot of people know that and do that.. so you don’t have to worry during your cruise to get ALL the characters to sign your book or whatever else you like…
See it’s cool to be a Castaway Member, which you will automatically become when you start your second cruise… Once you went, you can’t stop.. it’s like an additction you have to keep coming back J Start saving your money and you too can enjoy the magical Disney Cruise that so many have already enjoyed…..
