This week was a very lucrative week for the Disney Fund.
$3.09 in spare change
$50 Landry’s Gift Card earned through MyPoints (good at both Rainforest Cafe and TREX at Downtown Disney; Took about 6 months to earn.)
$60 reimbursed from the Doctor’s office. We all ha the flu at the beginning of the month and had to all 4 go to the doctor. We have to pay a $15 per person co-pay but then the doctor’s office sends it back. So I used the grocery budget for that week to pay it (since we were so sick we didn’t go shopping much).
$113.09 added to the Disney fund. $1005.32 saved since November 12th, 2011. My goal is $3,000. Likely going in Jan 2013.
I want you to learn how to grow your own fund too! If you are new to couponing, start with the Getting Started Couponing Series, followed by the How To Start Your Fund series. Remember you can use these savings principles to save for anything you want from Disney trips to paying off debt to buying a new television. As the great Walt Disney said “If you can dream it, you can do it!”
Is a Landrys gift card a better option from mypoints than the Rainforest Cafe? We plan to eat at T-Rex at this point in December and I’m working to save up for a gift card we can use there. Just want to make sure when I get there I get the correct one so we can make good use of it on our trip!
The Landrys card can be used at either Rainforest or T-Rex.
Thanks! I have a post it on my computer to save for it. It seems like slow going on MyPoints, but my goal is five-six months to earn it as well so we have it before our Disney trip in Dec.
Congratulations! At the rate you are going, you may be able to start saving for your 2014 trip!
I agree. Kristin is a major disciplined experienced pro at this. We will get there one day. I am just amazed
Congratulations!!! I LOVE the large deposits!!! The kids go crazy and the hubby is very impressed when we save a lot in a small amount of time!!! It’s funny how when we have Disney trips on our minds, the money tends to be slower to leave our hands!!! :)
Impressive
Thanks for the landrys gift card thing i had no idea….what other gift cards can we redeem that can be used at Disney World
Congratulations on your success. My weekly savings has been slow over the past two weeks. I am trying to get gift cards from Swagbucks and Superpoints ( need a friend? email me). I already have one Ebates reward check coming soon.
Fantastic! I too am actually ahead of where I hoped to be by now. I’ve been saving entirely from ebay and rebate checks. Ebay is my primary source of income, so each week I “pay” myself based on that week’s earnings – $250 earnings, I buy a $25 Disney GC; $400 earnings, I buy myself a $50 Disney GC; I haven’t gotten here yet, but if I had $700 in earnings, I’d buy myself a $100 Disney GC. Those gift cards can be applied towards on property stays and park tickets, so every bit helps!
Wow, that’s a great idea.
Congrats on your awesome addition to the Disney fund! We are trying to go to Disney for our honeymoon in January 2013. We’ll see how it goes… with the wedding to pay for, as well as random medical expenses, I’m not sure its possible. We’ve been using your tactics to pay off all of our credit cards, and only have 1 left to pay! They were used for college expenses, and we’re so glad to have that off of our plate. If we don’t get a honeymoon, at least we are debt free!
That’s great!! I am currently working on getting either a $50 paypal or chili’s giftcard with swagbucks! I’m almost there! Also, I’m still under budget for the month-hoping to add quite a bit to the fund when the month is over!
That’s awesome!
