It is 9 months until our group trip to Walt Disney World…. are you excited? I know I am! I am hoping that a lot of you are able to join my family, but if you aren’t, you can still save along with us for your own financial goals!
I haven’t made a deposit to the Disney fund since May of last year! That’s around the time that we decided to start trying for a baby, so a lot of the money that I would be sitting aside for the Disney fund had to be put aside for our medical deductible (it’s $2500 just for me!). I’ve almost finished making the pre-payments to my OB so it is now time to get back to putting money into the Disney fund.
Even though I was saving for the medical deductible, I was also simultaneously saving gift cards, spare change, unexpected checks, etc for the Disney fund. So I have a nice size deposit to make into our Disney fund!
$85.62 in spare change
$10 in McDonald’s gift cards from My Coke Rewards
$5 Walmart gift card from Recycle Bank
$50 Disney Gift Card from sitting through a Disney Vacation Club presentation at Disneyland
$20 in Disney Gift Cards from Disney Movie Rewards
$5 – bought a $25 Target gift card for $20 from Groupon
$4 – bought a $10 Shell gift card for $6 from Groupon
$27.26 – refund from a doctor visit
$314.12 – Rewards earned on my Disney Visa card from June – December (this includes the rewards from the Disneyland trip in June plus I pay my medical bills with my Disney Visa and that adds up too!).
$15 from My Survey
$103.28 settlement check from Sketchers for buying Shape Ups
$1.20 in spare change
$10 from Opinion Outpost
$15 Amazon gift card earned from Delicious Rewards
$10 CVS gift card from My Points
$25 Rewards Card from AT&T
$1.86 in spare change
$702.34 deposited into the Disney Fund. $1794.57 saved since February 3rd, 2013! Our goal is $3500. We are going to Walt Disney World from October 11th – 18th, 2014.

You rock!!!!
I have to learn to set money aside like you do and since i signed up for the capital one 360 account i will use that as me savings account for our trips and emergency fund!!
Can you tell us or give me the post of how you came up with $3500. And what you are budgeting for? On site off site how many days and nights. Buying food or dining plan etc… This will help tremendously in helping me plan our trip. Thanks!

Kristin, i really enjoy reading your posts. I had started saving for a Disney trip last year, then in April my sister called and said the family was giving my mom a surprise 80th birthday party in Nov 2013, i live in a state over 1,000 miles from my former home state. So everything changed to planning for that trip, my husband was not able to go because he just started a new job, but my three adults children and i went and we surprised my mom. Then Christmas, so i have started a new saving plan for a Disney trip. have a little over 70.00 at this time. Thanks for this post about your savings for a trip. sorry i won’t be able to come in October would love to . Also congratulations on the new baby that is coming. This web site has helped me a lot in saving.

Congrats on your upcoming little one! I know what it’s like to save for those doctor bills, but oh, so worth it! We had that last year. However, I am so excited to see your next deposit…it’s so inspiring for me to save more every time!
