As an upgraded security measure, Disney World has replaced its “Do Not Disturb” door hangers with ones now reading, “Room Occupied”. This has started at select Walt Disney World resorts including Disney’s Grand Floridian, Contemporary Resort and Polynesian Village Resort. These hotels are all located on the Monorail loop, which transports guests to Disney’s Magic Kingdom as well.
Cast Members are now reported to be able to enter hotel rooms once per day, even if Mousekeeping (housekeeping) was not requested. Cast Members will be able to enter for such circumstances as, “maintenance and repairs or checking on the safety and security of guests and property.” Reasonable notice before entering includes knocking and announcing intent to enter.
This new policy also brings a change to select DVC Resort room guests, where trash removal service will now be performed daily (previously once every 4 days). This includes: Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows, The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii.
Disney World has not announced why, however many hotels across the country are stepping up their security measures.
