One way that I cut down on our souvenir expenses and encourage my kids to behave is with with the Disney World Souvenir: Tinker Bell Gifts . Tinker Bell Gifts are little gifts that Tinker Bell brings to the children to reward them for good behavior and to give them a little bit of magic.
I purchase our Tinker Bell Gifts at either the Dollar Tree, the Dollar Spot at Target or the Dollar Aisle at Michael’s. I wrap the gifts and sneak them into the suitcase. Tinker Bell visits them each morning with a new gift if they have been good the day before. I love this because all I have to say is “Don’t forget that Tinker Bell is watching you!” and it will stop any melt down or temper tantrum they are having.
I spent $18.00 for everything pictured above.

I started this when my son was 3 and we were there for his birthday, so all the stuff was wrapped and he would find a new one each morning and we just told him it was from Mickey. Then as he got older, I started doing gift cards from the characters. I buy the gift cards at Kroger before hand to get my fuel points and then every morning he get a card with a note. The notes have gotten bigger as he got older and was able to read. And that is his money for the trip, no asking us. And even though he is nine he still thinks every kid at Disney and on the cruise gets gift card every morning from a character. I think I have created a monster. But I know in the long run we have saved money, because he has a budget of spending.
LOVE this idea!
How did you introduce this? Did Tink leave a note or something? We’re headed in May with a 3 and 2 year old and would LOVE to do this!
I LOVE your site. Thank you so much for all the ideas. What are the pink and blue thingys? lol
What a great idea! I will use this on our next trip. Thanks for the tips :)
We did something similar but used disney merchandise that we bought at home. I paid $6.50 for stuffed animals (minnie and mickey) instead of paying almost $30 there. We also take our own light up toys and tons of glow sticks to get away with not buying the $20 light up toys there. Have a great trip!
