We’ve done a few tours throughout the World and have always had great experiences! We have the Disney Visa so we always save a little bit but every time we go we budget in one of the tours! We’ve done both Keys to the Kingdom and Backstage Magic (except when we did this one it was MK, HS and EPCOT and we ate at Mama Melrose). Both tours were amazing and we learned a lot!
My wife and I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour in 2001 (was included with the dining plan, I believe), and it was very good. This was pre-kids. There’s a very good reason for it being 10-plus, as you get to back to the areas where cast members (especially characters) can be in a partial costume. We still have our “Keys” pins and name badges.
I did the Steam Train tour in ’08 with some friends (with the Disney Visa discount), it was very good as well. You get to enter the park before anyone else, and get to go up on the platform so you can get a picture of an basically empty main street. We got to learn about all of the safety measures built into the steam trains, and go back to the maintenance building which is shared by both the trains and the monorails.
My family & I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour several years ago and is definitely worth it! Makes you feel so special!
Don’t forget to ask for Disney Visa Card, Passholder, or DVC discounts. You can generally save 10 to 20% off the different tours. We’ve done the Keys to the Kingdom tour and it was great. Keys to the Kingdom tour also comes with lunch at Columbia House.
