Disneyland Resort in Anaheim is composed of two parks. Disneyland and California Adventure. In these two parks are more attractions than are in the four parks of the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Yes, for real! Some are the same, some are a bit different, and some are completely unique. But even though these two parks take up a smaller land mass, it can still take some planning to get through the parks and enjoy everything you can. So today, I am going to share with you some Disneyland Resort Planning and Touring Tips.
What are my transportation options at the Disneyland Resort? The Disneyland Resort has a monorail that runs between the parks and to the Grand Californian. However, the best mode of transportation is walking! Yes, the Disneyland Resort Hotels are situated so close to each other and to the parks that you can walk! If you stay at the Disneyland Hotel, you walk through Downtown Disney and are at the park entrance in about 7-10 minutes The Grand Californian has its own entrance to Disney’s California Adventure Park, which makes walking very convenient.
Does the Disneyland Resort open early for resort guests? Yes. One of the parks opens at 8AM every day. So for example if Disney’s California Adventure has Magic Morning Hours on Monday, Disneyland will have it on Tuesday, etc. Something else to keep in mind, if you have chosen to stay off site. Off site guests of Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels are allowed ONE morning of their stay to access a park early if they have a 3 day or more park ticket.
Do you recommend a park hopper or a base ticket for my Disneyland trip? I highly recommend a park hopper. The reason is because the parks are literally right across from each other. It makes it so easy, and valuable, to have a park hopper at the Disneyland Resort.
How many days are ideal to spend in the Disneyland parks? I think 3 days is ideal with a park hopper at the Disneyland parks. You will be able to see everything you want to see, plus enjoy some time at the parks. On the “no park days”, you can easily take a day trip to San Diego, drive to the beach, or even visit Legoland or Sea World.
Does Disneyland utilize FastPasses? Yes. Disneyland utilizes the ticket Fastpass system. One thing to note is to see World of Color, you MUST have a FastPass. It doesn’t interfere with your other Fastpasses throughout the day. It’s a good idea to FastPass the Radiator Springs Racers, as well as Fantasmic and World of Color if possible.
