It is a kind gesture to tip Cast Members who go above and beyond. Some examples are Mousekeeping, luggage handlers, and services like hair cuts, Art of Shaving, hair wrapping, spa, etc. However, Cast members who are in non-tipped positions at Walt Disney World can actually get into trouble if they accept a tip.
Non-Tipped Positions at Disney
- Cast members at the Monorails
- Captains on Disney Boats
- Walt Disney World bus drivers
- Photopass Photographer
- Cast Members at Rides
- Cast Members at Quick Service Locations
Cast members are instructed to hand over any cash or cash equivalent gifts (check/ gift card) to their supervisor. It is then usually donated back to Disney. If guests want to give a Cast Member something special, consider the items below instead, knowing they will get to keep it 100%. Cast Members in non tipped positions are not allowed to accept gifts totaling no more than $75 per calendar year.
What to give instead of cash:
- Candy
- Pin
- Key Chain
- Thank you Notes/ Thank you printed on a Business Card
- Go to guests relations or mention CM name in Disney satisfaction survey
A small token of appreciation can make some ones day.

We are from Hawaii and always bring chocolate covered mac nuts with us (individually wrapped) and hand them out to everyone when we travel. The conductor of the monorail told us she was not allowed to accept anything from anyone. However, they are allowed after you offer it 3 times. So we made sure to offer 3 times and then she was able to take some.
