When icing cakes or cupcakes, sometimes it’s hard to make the amount of frosting you get in one container stretch far enough. Technically, one container should cover the amount of cake that 1 box makes (whether a layered cake, sheet cake, or cupcakes) but not everyone spreads it the same. Some like it thick, some like it thin. Instead of buying 2 containers and then possibly wasting a lot of the second one, try this trick! Empty the frosting into a bowl and whisk with a mixer until you get the desired amount. I’ve tried using the beaters before, but that doesn’t do anything… you need to make sure the whisk attachment is on there for it to work. Not only does this increase the volume of your frosting, but it makes it lighter so it’ll seem more like buttercream.

Can canned frosting be used in a piping bag?
I’ve used all sorts of frosting in piping bags and I’ve never had a problem with the canned being any different than home made.
This is wonderful and I’m going to try it this afternoon. If it works well for me, would you mind if I linked this post on my blog?
Cant wait to try
This is a money saver!!!
That is brilliant! I am definitely going to give that a try, and tell my sisters too. Thanks!
