The DoubleTree Suites in Lake Buena Vista is located close to Downtown Disney. The resort is located on the Disney World property. Guests wanting to get to Downtown Disney from DoubleTree without use of car can do so by walking the half mile downhill to the resort. During a recent stay in Orlando, my family had the pleasure to stay at this spacious resort.
On this particular vacation, my family rented a vehicle. As such, I do not know personal experience using their transportation system which takes you to the parks. However, they do offer a shuttle to the parks. This shuttle does pickup other guests staying in nearby Downtown Disney resorts. The shuttle takes you directly to the parks, but typically to a drop-off location which is a bit further away from the drop-off locations offered by Disney resorts. Pickups and returns to the resorts are based on a schedule. Be sure to check the schedule for exact times when you check in at the resort.
The check in process at the resort is extremely smooth. The front desk rarely has a line and is quick to get you your keys to your room. The rooms are wonderful. They are extremely clean and offer two large spaces. Picture the room: Walk in the door to your resort room. Once inside, you find a kitchenette to include a dorm sized refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee maker, and glass cups all along a large counter space. In front of the counter, you will find a round table with four chairs. Behind the table you will find a dedicated den area complete with a cushiony chair, a large pull-out couch, two side tables which include plugs for all of your electronics, a long table in front of the couch and a television atop a large cabinet with plenty of storage space. Separated by doors, you will find the bedroom area to include two double beds (in our instance) and another television atop a large cabinet with drawers. Back towards the front wall, you will find a beautiful bathroom and closet. The closet area includes a large table and mirror above.
During our stay this time, I noted a few extra things that I loved about this resort I wanted to make sure to highlight:
*The shower has extra room and a ledge. This allows for extra room for placement of items, such as shampoos, soaps, etc. I enjoyed using the ledge when shaving.
*The towels smell nice! I know it is a small thing, but it is something you do not typically receive when vacationing!
*A coffee maker is available in the room. Guests receive both coffee and tea that can be made using this coffee maker.
*A workout facility is available and located very close to the pool. The equipment located in the workout facility are top notch! Also located in the pool area is a whirlpool and pool bar. This setup is great for a hard workout followed by a drink and a dip in the relaxing whirlpool.
By far, this is the nicest accommodations experienced by my family when visiting Disney World. We appreciate the grounds, the huge amount of space found in the rooms, as well as the warm chocolate chip cookies available at the front desk. It is truly the perfect place to return to after a long day in the Disney parks.
Our stay was wonderful. We enjoyed the location, the beds and the cookies:) The resort offers something for everyone. Be sure to keep it in mind when you are looking to book your next vacations accommodations when visiting Disney.
Here is a resort option if you want to stay on-site at Walt Disney World with parties of 5 or more.

I completely agree, although we didn’t use the amenities. When we drove down to Orlando last June, we were so excited that we drove all night. As we passed Daytona at 10pm, we realized we needed a place to stay, since CBR wasn’t expecting us until the next day. I installed the Priceline app on my phone and we got a fantastic deal ($55!). We arrived shortly after 11, got checked in and our warm cookies and headed up to our room. We were a little concerned because the lobby was full of teenage girls, being, well, teenage girls. Once in our room, we could not hear the outside world at all. Gave our son his cookie, brushed his teeth and we all crashed.
Doubletree is #1 on our list of places to stay if we can’t stay on-property on a future trip. If all Doubletree Suites are as nice as DTD, then they’ll be the first place I check for all hotel stays.
