I can not utter enough how important it is that you drink water while you are touring the Disney parks. Even if you do not like water, your body does and it needs it especially in the Florida heat.
Water will help your body cool down, hydrate what you have lost by sweating and refresh you so that you can keep going strong in the parks.
I am not saying that you need to drink nothing but water, but take it from a former Diet Coke addict….water makes you feel so much better especially while you are at Walt Disney World. I find touring the parks, even in the heat, to be much more enjoyable.
Here are some tips to help you consume more water during your vacation:
1. Order free ice water – Every Quick-Service and Snack Location that serve fountain sodas will provide you with a free cup of ice water. These cups are small, so don’t hesitate to ask for two per person.
2. Bring your own water – You are allowed to bring a soft sided cooler into the Disney parks. Bring your own cold water with you, at least for the first half of the day. You can even order water and have it shipped to your resort to save on your cost. A bottle of water at Disney World is now $3. A case from Walmart.com is $4. That saves you SIXTY-EIGHT DOLLARS! If you have access to a freezer, I usually freeze a couple bottles to use as ice packs.
3. Bring a Brita Water Bottle – Florida water has a funky taste to it. It isn’t awful, it’s just funky. I’ve found that bringing your own Brita Water Bottle will filter out this taste. You can even pour your ice water from the restaurants into it.
4. Bring flavor packets – If you aren’t a point in your life yet where you enjoy the taste of water (I can say that because I used to hate the taste of water and now I crave it), cheat and bring flavor packets. Crystal Light, Hawaiian Ice and even Kool-Aid all make flavor packets for water bottles. This can be a great way to cover the taste of the Florida water or provide variety for your day.
5. Water and then soda – Make a deal with yourself and your guests. Down a bottle (you can cheat and get the smaller water bottles) before you allow yourself a glass of soda. This way your body gets the hydration it needs and you get the taste that you need.
I hope these tips help you! Take it from a gal who did all Diet Coke on her first couple of trips and now does all water. Consuming an adequate amount of water really does change your entire outlook on your trip. I am able to get more done, the heat doesn’t make me feel sluggish and I sweat like my body was meant to sweat meaning that I feel cooler! Plus I find that I am more cheerful and the other Disney guests don’t annoy me as much (hello…why do they have to stop in the walkways to talk?).

I always bring my Crystal light packets to get enough water in.
So very true, the last time I went I had pop when I ate at the Sci-Fi, Rose & Crown, the night I had dinner at the hotel. The rest of the time was water and it made a huge difference in how I felt.
I will add that if you are under the weather (I’ve been many times w/ sinus infections & all the meds that go along with that) drinking plenty of water is even more important!
Another good reminder – if you go to the parks during the colder months, you still need to drink lots of water. With all that walking you still need to stay hydrated even if the temps are low and you are wearing layers to stay warm. I speak from experience that no matter the time of the year, stay hydrated. :)
I agree 100%!!! I am a Diet Coke junkie and I drink 90% water at the parks – and at the resort. Sounds kind of hard to do, but it’s not and it is so worth it. Florida water is funky, so we hit Walmart on the way in or make a run.
