Always check your receipts before you leave the parking lot of the store. Check to make sure every item scanned at it’s correct price, they didn’t scan 2 of the same product and make sure all your coupons were deducted at the end of your purchase. It is easier to correct an error immediately then to try to argue at the service desk a few days later that you did not purchase 2 packages of chicken nuggets.

This happened to me yesterday at Target. The cashier didn’t scan two of my $1 off coupons and she was scanning them so fast and I wasn’t sure if they were scanned or not…needless to say, I was right and didn’t say anything because the line behind me was starting to build, target wins :(

It just so happens that I had the same experience at Target yesterday. Today, I contacted Target customer service via phone and using their on-line “contact us” form to suggest improvements on their receipts. Maybe others could do the same.

I hate the Target receipts! They really are confusing. I think its so much easier when all the coupons are either listed like this
Item and price
-store coupon
-manuf. coupon
or all deducted at the bottom of the receipt. With Target’s receipt system its so hard to tell if the coupons are deducted properly (sometimes when you use both a manu. and store coupon it seems like it only takes one or the other, even though you are supposed to be able to use one of each)

I am big receipt checker and I’m working on teaching my kids to do the same. The biggest error I ever had was on a large grocery order. I was in a hurry to get home so I didn’t notice until then that a discounted package of bacon that was marked 99 cents had been sold to me for 99 dollars!

Target has always been pretty good with fixing errors. Last Sunday I went there and bought some stuff. I didn’t check my receipt until I got home. Sure enough, they didn’t take off a coupon for a free item. I called the store, told the guy what happened. He checked to see if he could find the coupon in a cashiers drawer and couldn’t find it. He told me to come back and they would give me the $3.49 price of the item. I said the coupon was only good up to $3.00. I went back 2 days later, went to customer service and they gave me the $3.49 even though I said the coupon was for $3.
At my Target, they keep a list of people that must call in. The clerk checked the pad and saw I had spoken with a manager about this. I didn’t go back the same day (not worth the gas) and was pleasantly surprised that is was so easy. In my mind, I’d already written the money as gone.

I do this all the time before I step out of the store. Plus, check your grocery store policies regarding overcharges. Because at my grocery store (Frys) if they charge me more for an item, then I get a full refund and the item is free. But only on the first item, so if I bought multiples of the same item, then the rest would be refunded the price difference. It takes just a minute to check your receipt and it can save you money and hassle later on.

Yep I hate Target receipts, I never understand them, I just look at the register the whole time they are doing my coupons.

Ugh this just happened to me today at Target. I thought my bill seemed too high and my friend said something to the cashier and he said “oh it wouldn’t take the $10 pampers Q”. He tried it again and it did. I paid and thought it STILL seemed off and in the parking lot I realized that I gave him 4 coupons for baby wipes, but they didn’t come off the bill. I went back in and they paid me $8 for the mistake. lol went home and review the hard to read Target receipt once more and realized that it was STILLLLL off by $3.75! So all and all my bill was off by $22! Can you believe that! Probably not worth it to try and fight the last $3.75, but I will definately make sure I listen for the coupons to scan AND watch for the price to go down next time………..Please learn from my mistakes!!!

That is terrible!

This happens almost every time I go to Target and try to use coupons. I was once shorted over $17! Even when I went in and bought only 3 items they STILL didn’t scan all my coupons. I have learned that at Target you have to watch all the cashiers like hawks when they handle your coupons and that you can’t get distracted when they are ringing up your order.

Ugh, this happened to me last week, too. I had all 4 of my kids with me and the Target receipts are so hard to read and I just noticed yesterday that when I bought four of the $6 shirts, it only deducted 3 of the $3 coupons. I’ll go back tomorrow and see if they’ll credit me $3, if not, I’ll just return one of the shirts…

I always make sure to check my receipts before I leave. With sales and prices changing every week, there’s often a chance that items will ring up for the wrong amount. Some stores have a price guarantee, so I’ve received a few items for free because I’ve noticed that they were scanned for the wrong amount.

Last week this happened at target. I only bought 2 boxes of yosicles Popsicles but the lady accidentally rang up 3! That was $3.49 over what my total should have been. And those target receipts are so hard to read. After I figured it out I went back into the store (thankfully I had a cooler for my Popsicles) and they refunded my money.
