Here are some of the great benefits of having a stockpile besides the obvious of saving your family money:
- No more running to the store for a specific ingredient (like Spaghetti Sauce)
- If there is a natural disaster coming (like a snow storm), you don’t have to run to the store for supplies.
- You can donate to those in need without feeling the pinch on your wallet
What other benefit has your stockpile provided you?
If you are new to Couponing, you might want to take a moment to read more in my Getting Started Couponing series. It will teach you how to coupon like I do!
We Stockpile cereal but I guess we should be stockpiling more!
I am due in November and I have been doing the samething with food, diapers and wipes!!! I have enough diapers for my daughter to last her for atleast 7 months!!!! It didn’t cost me but 40 bucks at CVS and some deals on Amazon!! My first child we were not prepared and spent soooo much money I got better with my 2nd child but now going into the 3rd it’s crazy how much I’ve saved and been able to stock up on!!! Plus like other people have said it’s nice not having to go to the store for one item!!! I would however LOVE to get a deep freezer to make it that much more easier! But that will come in due time! :)
I love the idea of stocking up for a baby’s arrival. I due in January….i need to stock up more!
I can help my friends or family when they need it and not have to worry about shorting us. I like that even though we’re a one income house right now, I still have the ability to help any one I know that’s struggling.
I stock pile deals. Its so much fun to stockpile on snack foods that are on sale for my boys. Plus, once you start doing this for a while you know when something is a great deal and you stock up on it since you know it won’t be coming again for a while (like canned veggies around Thanksgiving are always way cheaper than any other time of year, or steaks and burgers are always cheaper during BBQing holidays). I also spend a lot less each week on groceries because of it.
The biggest benefit is that I don’t HAVE to shop every week. Now all I do is buy my perishables and then have fun hunting down more great deals. The last time I truly grocery shopped was the beginning of June and we’re probably good for another month, at least. This is much more fun than the mundane grocery shopping I used to do!
I’m just starting my stockpile…most of what I have now is personal stuff (toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) and baking stuff (sugar, flour, etc.)…I’m really encouraged to hear that I will be able to get to the point where I’m not having to go grocery shopping for one ingredient! I am working on a small budget to make up my stockpile (and weekly grocery purchases too), while we’re trying to get rid of our debt, but once the debt is gone I should be able to stockpile better. Thanks for all the benefits everyone!
One benefit is the ability to take a brEak from shopping and use the money saved to pay off debt that is incurring interest.
My daughter comes home from college and “shops” from the stockpile.
She finds what she needs to replenish and also some new surprises!
We have more time to spend together catching up instead of running around
for supplies.
That’s so funny! My daughter lives on her own now and she comes “home” to shop too!
I can meal plan around it making my overall grocery costs lower. I go into my stockpile BEFORE I make my meal plan for the week and hit the store.
I only started couponing & stockpiling March of this year in preperation for our second baby’s arrival. I remembered the horror of taking a newborn into a store running on very little sleep & trying to remember what household essentials we needed, looking horrible having not showered in days & dealing with the undesired attention she cute little self brought upon us. BUT NOT THIS TIME AROUND! If I needed a fresh can of formula or (yet another) pack of diapers, I just had to walk to our storage closet instead of the store.
Our daughter was born in July, but I’m sure if she had been born in winter – it would of given me even more of an excuse to stockpile even more to avoid having to go out in the rain/snow.
