There are new things popping up every day at the Walt Disney World Resort. Join us every week to read about “What’s New” in Walt Disney World! This week features several Disney food and beverage changes and the grand opening of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
New! Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is Officially Open: Beginning , May 28, 2014, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is officially open. Guests have been able to book Fastpass+ for this attraction since May 2 when the grand opening date was announced, and now they can redeem them! The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train started operating in “soft opening” or “dress rehersal” on May 23 during the 24-Hour Rock Your Disney Side party. Though “dress rehearsal” means the ride could be shut down at any time, it ran through the entire event. There were a few times in the days that followed where the ride was closed for a short time, but operations have been very smooth. The attraction is fantastic!
New! Tinker Bell Moved to Town Square Theater: On May 20, Tinker Bell moved from Adventureland to Main Street, U.S.A., where Guests will discover a portal to Tinker Bell’s Magical Nook inside Town Square Theater. As Guests enter the new Garden Theater at Town Square Theater, they will magically shrink down to the size of a fairy and step inside Tinker Bell’s Magical Nook, where they’ll join Tinker Bell in a beautiful, natural setting filled with a collection of her treasures from the mainland. Disney FastPass+ service will be available for this experience at Town Square Theater, as well as for the opportunity to meet Mickey Mouse.
New! Friar’s Nook Open for Breakfast at Magic Kingdom: With the opening of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and the continued popularity of Princess Fairytale Hall, it seems Magic Kingdom needed another breakfast option in Fantasyland. Friar’s Nook is now open for breakfast to Guests. The location will start serving breakfast at park open (8 a.m. on days with Extra Magic Hours in the morning). Menu offerings include French toast sticks and a Breakfast Sausage Dog (two links of sausage, scrambled eggs, topped with cheese and bacon all on a hot dog bun). New! More Details Released about 2014 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival: Favorites like the waterfront marketplaces, Eat to the Beat Concerts, Party for the Senses and more will be back this year, but new additions will appear as well. One new event is a Sunday morning event called “Sunday Mornings With …” that will be a plated brunch with a noted pastry chef
or baker crafting three fabulous desserts for guests.
What else is new for 2014?
- Patagonia Marketplace will merge the flavors of Argentina and Chile in dishes like sustainable roasted Verlasso salmon with quinoa salad drizzled with a kicky arugula chimichurri. You can pair that with a couple of great Chilean wines: Cono Sur Bicicleta Viognier or Cono Sur Bicicleta Pinot Noir Rosé.
- Farm Fresh Market replaces last year’s Florida Local Marketplace, with a perfect “brinner” (breakfast for dinner) dish: “Bacon and Eggs,” with applewood-smoked, pepper-coated bacon, sweet corn, potatoes, Hollandaise and pickled jalapeños. Or try the griddled “yard bird” (chicken) with braised greens. Happy to see Orlando Brewing Company’s I-4IPA on the menu, as well as trendy Ba Ba Black Lager from Salt Lake City’s Uinta Brewing Company.
- Brazil Marketplace is back with that wildly popular crispy pork belly with black beans, onions, avocado and cilantro, but chefs also are adding mocequa de pescado (tilapia with coconut lime sauce and steamed rice), pao de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) and cocadas (Brazilian coconut candy).
- The Poland Marketplace switches up the popular pierogi with a new sauerkraut pierogi and pork goulash.
