Walt Disney World is meant to be enjoyed by families, and that means a variety of rides that everyone, from the smallest mouse to the wisest owl, can enjoy.
However, there are a few rides with a little more thrill and a little less chill at all four of the Disney Parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios). These rides will employ height requirements.
Height requirements will vary by attraction, and are strictly enforced for safety reasons. Children will be measured by a cast member at the entrance for an attraction. Measure your child before you leave for vacation, so you (and they!) know which rides they can appreciate now and which ones they may have to wait until the next trip to enjoy.
The Magic Kingdom has the most attractions of all four Disney parks, so there is really something for everyone here, just by the sheer numbers. With only six rides that have a height requirement and numerous outdoor shows, parades, and fireworks, this is a great park to enjoy as a family, with littles ones, or if you just don’t have the need for speed.
But if you’ve got a young one itching to give the thrill rides a go, this is a great place to introduce them to roller coasters. The Barnstormer is like the training wheels for bigger coasters: short, sweet, and still high flyin’. If the Barnstormer is cake, you can move up to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and then to Splash Mountain, and so on and so forth. If big drops aren’t your thing, the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Peter Pan’s Flight will thrill you with their attention to detail and amazing illusions of flight, fights, or mild frights. Who says thrill rides need to come with a height requirement?
