Universal Studios Orlando is so fun yet small compared to its neighbor Disney World! That is all about to change. Did you read the announcement yesterday? If you are planning a trip to Universal you are probably wondering how many days do I need? If you have been to Disney World you might think its the same size. I did! I thought it was going to be the same. Boy was I wrong! Not counting Volcano Bay, it’s a little bigger then Magic Kingdom. While its smaller it’s just as fun.
Now on to the golden question. How many days do I need at Universal? Well that depends on you and your family! If you are a single person who doesn’t care about Volcano Bay. Don’t mind going park open to park close, and utilizing single rider line one day is enough. You could do 2 days and do morning and evening the coolest parts of the day in the regular parks. Then spend the hot afternoons at Volcano Bay. 2 days would work well. If you want to enjoy it at a more relaxed pace or have small children I would recommend doing 1 day per park minimum. Counting Volcano Bay that would put you at 3 days. Of course you could always spend a few days or even a week re-riding things, enjoying the shows, scenery, and really taking in all that is Universal Studios Orlando! The choice is yours. For most people budget is the deciding factor.
If you are on a tight budget but still want to experience all the magic that is Universal as a single person I would say go for a day. For families I would recommend staying for at least 2 days. Both of these are without going to Volcano Bay. If you would like to visit Volcano Bay add a day. For my family of 5, kids ages 14, 11, and 5 three days without visiting Volcano Bay is the least amount of time I would like to stay. We would go at park open ride the more popular rides before the crowd’s arrive and eat lunch. Around noon head back to the hotel, swim and maybe take a nap, until 4 PM then head back to the parks until close.
In an ideal world I would like 4-5 days. That way I could focus on rides 3 days. Spend a day just watching shows, the parade, and taking in all the beauty that is Universal. Then the last day would be a day for re-riding all my favorite rides one last time. Every family is different no one knows your’s as well as you do. No matter how few or many days you choose. You will have a fabulous time making memories!
