Are you wondering how to turn gift cards into Disney money? This is something that I teach on throughout my Saving for Disney course and it is a huge part of paying for Disney in cash.
There are a number of promotions that reward you in gift cards. I know Target frequently offers a gift card with purchase. At my grocery store, they will offer $10 off a $50 gas gift card. You’ll earn gift cards for participating in money making apps, surveys and websites. You’ll even earn them from rebates. And people will give you gift cards as gifts.
So here is how you can turn it into actual cash for your Disney fund:
Let’s say I got a $10 Visa gift card via rebate. When the gift card arrives, I take $10 out of my grocery budget envelope and replace it with the $10 Visa gift card. I then take the $10 in cash and put it in my Disney fund. I spend the $10 Visa gift card on my next grocery trip.
If it is a restaurant gift card, I take the cash out of my dining out budget and put that cash into my Disney fund. Then I go out to eat with the restaurant gift card. Keep in mind that I don’t do this until I am actually going to go to the restaurant. I know we tend to get restaurant gift cards for places we rarely go.
If it was a gas gift card, I would take the cash out of the gas budget envelope and put the gift card in its place. And so on and so forth.
If I get a Disney gift card, I just put that gift card in the fund box. Since Disney takes gift cards everywhere credit cards are accepted, I can just use it at Disney in place of cash.
So there you have it! Super simple way to turn any gift card into money for Disney.
