The only rope drop I’ve ever been to was at Epcot. It was a little anti climactic. I couldn’t really see what was going on. My husband and I tend to sleep in late and stay up late – so we miss most of the opening ceremonies.
This is my favorite picture of the best view of Disney, seeing this in person makes you all pumped up and excited for what the day holds and the great memories you will create!!
Ahhh… the memories came flooding back when I saw this picture. This was our very first thing we did when we took our children this summer for their very first visit. I was so excited I could barely contain myself. It was so wonderful to see my children’s faces when the music started and they saw the characters come out. I am loving every minute of seeing your pictures. I am definitely going to start planning our next trip.
We had lots of time to stare at that flower bed when we were waiting for the gates to open for the parade filming on 12/3 – had to be there at 7:30 and we were there before 7. We were ALL antsy by the time we were allowed in!!!
Hooray!! Have an awesome day! The MK opening is one of the highlights of the trip for me! Didn’t even know about it our first trip, but we caught it right after a Chef Mickey’s breakfast. Now it’s a never miss!
In all my trips to Disney, including the 6 months I worked there, I have never been to rope drop. I would love to try to go in February when we are there and my late-rising husband seems game :)
My biggest issue is my son with ADHD. He’s an early riser (we’ve always said, “If the sun’s up, Aidan’s up”), but he has major sensory issues with large crowds and gets very overwhelmed. Anyone have any advice? Someone recently mentioned to me that I may be able to discuss this with a Cast Member and they might be able to make accommodations for him, but I had never heard of this – anyone know?
i am wondering if i will be able to get hubby to do a rope drop i didn’t realize everybody ran like that!! he will not like the prospect of being run over. did you video the opening??? if so are you going to utube it?? mabye i can convince hubby once he sees that it’s a great site to see… here’s hoping!
This would never happen for me. Husband has a severe crowd aversion lol. But at least if feels like I’m right there by looking at your photos. Alas, I will never experience the rope drop.
We made it for one rope drop, and it had already started as we were walking up. It is HARD to get there on time with a child! So worth it though, we got on rides right away. It was so nice to not wait in line!
We like to get in before opening by having early breakfast at Crystal Palace or an appointment at Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, and then watch the crowing come running full steam ahead down Main Street after rope drop. Makes me tear up every time, watching the excitement on all the faces of the little ones!
WOW!! That is so cool! We are not usually rope drop people but this looks like something we will have to check out sometime!! Thanks for sharing and have fun!!
Wow, I’m such a planner. Some of you guys take my breath away. I’ve had our house for Aug booked for months. Bought our tix a year in advance before the price increase. I know which parks we’re visiting each day according to crowd calendars and plan to book my restaurants at the 180 day mark. I love to do some vacations more spontaneously but not Disney. The crowds make me nuts so I plan around them. We always make rope drop so we can be done before the masses arrive. But to each his own, right. Here’s hoping we all have a magical time!
Oh my ….. Even when we were little I think we only went to a rope drop once or twice …… Koodos for always doing it ……. We are still in our cabin and we don’t evan know what park we are going to today XD

Weve never been there to see a rope drop. ADRs always get in the way. Would love to make it a part of our next trip!

Yay!
I hope you had a great day and that it wasn’t too crowded.

We have always wanted to make rope drop at the front, but we can never get going that early in the morning. :o)
Rope drop is the best way to start the day! Everyone is so friendly first thing in the morning.
Wish I was there! Miss it!
Its great to be there right as the park opens and take advantage of the shorter lines!
I have never been to rope drop!!! Will have to put that on our list for the next trip!!!
How exciting!

How fun! Disney thinks of everything
Wow, I didn’t know that they did anything special when MK opens. How was it?
That is so cool I always wanted to see that too. We seem to always get there too late.
How exciting! Here’s hoping you have a low-crowd day and can do lots!

My happy place!!!!
Gives me goosebumps!!! How exciting !!!
What time do you have to get to MK to see the rope drop? I have never been and want to do that when we go in aug. Thanks.
BTW, my whole crowd aversion may also explain why I don’t do Black Friday :)
We have only seen the opening once but loved it! It is a great way to start the morning!

Good Mornin’, Good Mornin’. It’s great to stay up late, but good Mornin’, Good Mornin’ to you!!!
We will be opening the park tomorrow morning!!!!
Rope drop is the best part of the day! How can you NOT smile during, “Good Morning, Good Mooooorning!”
Yeah! Heading down late next week! Have fun, would love a D&B wristlet to take along!
YIPPEEEEE
Now run with the crowd and do not get run over by any strollers!
I want to go back, the pictures tell the stories and capture the magical quality of Walt Disney World…
We are a rope drop family too. We have gotten to open The Park at Disneyland twice. Have lots of fun.
We MUST get there for rope drop! Every year when we go we have the best intentions of getting there on time but it never works out :(
That looks kind of crowded. I hope it’s not too bad in there.
Oh my ….. Even when we were little I think we only went to a rope drop once or twice …… Koodos for always doing it ……. We are still in our cabin and we don’t evan know what park we are going to today XD
Fun. I love being at the opening. Have a magical day!
