Okay, so last week, while being very excited about the dollars of it all, I was hemming and hawing a bit because I couldn’t decide on 2020 or 2021 for our next Disney trip. So I did what I do with many big life decisions, I asked strangers on the Internet. But we’re not strangers! We’re best friends. So what did my best friends have to say about my future Disney trip?
Overwhelmingly, the SavEars thought we should do with 2021, for the sole reason of being able to partake in all the 50th Anniversary celebrations. But here is a secret about me, best friends: I will pick a small gathering over a big party any day. I am a low key introvert and Mr.B? Mr B. Is the King of the Introverts. He even has a plaque and a crown.
I think we would skip the 50th shenanigans in favor of the dates with lower crowds, truthfully. The 50th would be amazing, and so much fun, and I’m sure there are going to be out of this world opportunities…but we like a simple life. Give us just a nice Splash Mountain moment and we’re all good.
Last week some 2020 Free Dining Dates AND some 2020 Spring/Summer Room Discounts were released, which was very promising. Well, Free Dining wasn’t as promising. Those dates were pretty limited. But the room discount was nice! But I think we’re specifically thinking Fall, and those room discounts haven’t been released.
So the answer right now is….shrug? We’re right back to where we started. Right now, let’s call it saving towards 2020, with a potential watchful eye on 2021. When it comes to Disney, I’d always rather go sooner than later, regardless of what’s opening, what’s not opening, what we’re celebrating, etc. And if the hunch of my amazing TA, Elizabeth, turns out to be right, and most people are waiting for 2021, we might still see some Fall 2020 discounts like last year.
This was a great Fund week all thanks to the US Postal Service. One of my favorite money saving tips is this: check your mail! Even if you think it will be junk, it could turn out to be Fund! And it only takes two seconds and you really have nothing to lose. We received a $10 Kohl’s Cash for seemingly no reason (no complaints!) and $10 Costco Gift card for our membership auto renewal. Both came disguised as junk mail, and both will be joining our Disney Fund. We used the Kohl’s Cash to grab some things for Birthdays/Christmas, so we’ll move $10 from the Gift Fund to the Disney Fund. And the Costco card we’ll obviously use at Costco, so we moved $10 from the Home fund to the Disney Fund.
Why, hello, free stocking stuffers. Nice to see you.
But the mail wasn’t done with us yet! We also received our 2019 Cash back rewards from our Costco membership, a nice $39.65. Maybe I owe Costco as much credit at the US Postal Service, because we also got a $51.39 cash card from Costco some diapers we had bought a while ago but were now too small. We’ll turn right around and put that $in our home fund to buy the right sized diapers, and then funnel that Home Fund money into our Disney Fund.
2020 (?) Family Trip
Goal: $8000
After Last Deposit: $7000.11
Total Deposit: $111.04
$51.39, Costco Return
$39.65, Costco Rewards

We’re official past the first $1000! 1/8 of the way there! Hooray for little milestones. :) All in all, a pretty good week. We might not be sure when we’re going, but we’re definitely on our way to paying for it!

We are going to try to possibly go in fall 2020 too. Hoping for some good discounts! Fingers crossed for both of us.
Way to go
