Ladies and gentleman it’s time to play the Budget…is…Right!
(music! A do do do, a do do do do do, a do do do, a do do do do do, a do do do doooooooo!)
Welcome back to the B Family’s favorite game, the Budget is Right, where our lucky contestants compare the amounts of money they spent on things during a worldwide rumpus versus a number they thought they would spend on the same items, except without the rumpus! And now your host, Kristen Beeeeeeeeeeeeee!
(music! A do do do, a do do do do do, a do do do, a do do do do do, a do do do doooooooo!)
Hello friends and neighbors and welcome back to the Budget! Is! Right! The only imaginary, internet game show where the host is also one of the contestants. But before we jump right into it, lets hear a word from our sponsors.
Do you crave a snack that is creamy, delicate, and in block form? Have you been searching for a snack that you can slice, shred, or just take a huge bite of like it’s a piece of fruit? Introducing…CHEESE. The snack that will cost you a million dollars but will always be worth it. Slice it for sandwiches, shred it for cooking, or just carry a block around with you all day and take little nibbles like a chipmunk. Cheese, the snack of a lifetime. Available at a Kroger near you.
Welcome back to the Budget! Is! Right! I am still your host and contestant, Kristen B. For this round of the game we’ll be looking at the various budgets that were assigned to the month of April and then we’ll see if our contestants were over, under, or at. If our contestants are over a budget, they can use their lifelines to borrow from other budgets. But watch out, because the global rumpus is here to throw a kink in all budgeting plans! Can our contestants stick to at least one budget? Will our contestants come out of the month of April in the red or the black? And which one is the good one, red or black? It’s time to find out the answer to most of those questions as we play THE BUDGET IS RIGHT!
(music! A do do do, a do do do do do, a do do do, a do do do do do, a do do do doooooooo!)
Round one. April’s grocery budget was $392, or $98 a week. The B family spent…$546.39.
Wah wahhhhhh.
Oh no, B Family! You were $154.39 over budget for groceries. Looks like the rumpus really got to you, huh?
- It sure did, Host Kristen B. But we’ve gone nowhere and done nothing fun all month, so we’re really hoping that our entertainment budget is in better shape.
Love that optimism, Contestant Kristen B. Round 2, let’s take a look at that entertainment budget. April’s entertainment budget was $100. You used $36 for pizza one weekend, leaving you a total of….$64. What would you like to do next?
- Put it all towards the Grocery Budget, Host Kristen B!
Allright, this is getting exciting. If we put your $64 towards your grocery budget, that leaves you with an overage of…$90.39. Now we’re into the lightening round. Contestant Kristen B. Would you rather take $90.39 out of your Home budget for May…OR…keep your home budget in shape before your big Costco Trip next week and take the $90.39 out of your stimulus check. The choice is yours.
(The crowd ooooohhhhhs. Stressful clock ticking sound.)
- Well, Host Kristen B, this is a toughie…on the one hand…I think I could go into the Costco trip with $90 less and still be okay…on the other hand…what if they have something I really want and/or need? Just think of the cheese $90 could buy…Okay, Host Kristen B. I’ve made a decision. I’m going to use the stimulus to cover the remaining $90.39 of my grocery budget. This will give me a full home budget for my Costco trip and on the radically improbable chance we are under budget, I can move that money to my Disney Fund.
(Crowd goes wild! Cheers! Shouts! Chants!)
There you have it folks. A big risk that could lead to big reward is taking us out today. Tune in next week to see how Kristen B’s Costco trip went. Tune in next month to your favorite, imaginary internet show to see how the May grocery budget panned out. Until then, I’ve been your host and contestant, Kristen B and this has been the Budget! Is! Riiiiiiiiiiight!
