Our month of unexpected bills continues! Lightning ran in on our house during a particularly bad thunderstorm and blew one of our fuses- we’re talking it sounded like a mini transformer exploding inside the house. A $190 electrician visit later, we’ve finally got power back on to that part of the house, though now one of the USB plug ins on our TV doesn’t work (we initially thought the issue was with TWO, so one is actually a win for us). Our router and modem got fried too, and it’s been almost a week of frustration getting that fixed with AT&T. The first replacement they sent us didn’t work straight out of the box! What in the world is that about? Thankfully though, we did have a surge protector that protected most of our electronics.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Christmas this year. I know it’s only July- but here is the thing. This is when all the toy sales are. There are so many sales and it’s tempting to grab all the stuff. However, I just recently cleaned out my daughter’s playroom and it’s disheartening how little she actually plays with most of her toys. Even worse is the resell value! I took a tote full of nicely kept clothing and toys to Once Upon A Child. I sold 13 items- TOTAL. I am assuming now is a bad time to try to sell, but my goodness…13 items, $23. The pain is real. So, back to Christmas. I’m struggling with figuring out what Christmas will look like this year. At 5, she doesn’t understand the value of a membership somewhere- not to mention, who knows what is going to be open or safe by Christmas- or for how long afterwards we’ll have to wait for things to be safe. Everything is uncertain, especially this far out. I know we won’t be doing a Christmas trip this year. I will have some books for her as usual ,and I guess I’ll just be keeping my eyes open as I try to figure out what to get the kiddo!
It’s been terribly frustrating to deal with everything going on, so I’ve thrown myself into my crafting! I have been very lucky to make things, then have folks want to buy them. It allows me to keep crafting and folks get great deals. So you’re going to see quite a bump in my earnings from craft sales this week. I hit a new milestone this week, which is awesome!
