You know the way to guarantee something in your home will break? Pay a big amount of money for something. Whether it’s a vacation, buying a new car, whatever it is- the moment you pay a big amount out, something is gonna break.
I may be a little bitter because we need a new roof ridge runner, that is going to set us back $1500. OUCH. So thankful for that emergency fund, but I’m going to have to up that hustle even more to pay that back too. Blergh. Of course this is on the heels of paying off the van and making my big Paris plans. Seriously- check out it. Three weeks from the decision, and here we are.
We’re doing another another “eat from the freezer” challenge. I took advantage of some stock up deals over the past month, but it has definitely left me with little room- especially because I’m still making my homemade stock. If I don’t have enough to justify canning it, I’ve been throwing it in the freezer and that has not helped my situation at all. I did try using it to replace the water in my homemade bread- oh my gosh y’all, I highly recommend giving that a try. Delicious!
We bought a pack of sausages from Sam’s Club- Italian. Unfortunately, Tim and I aren’t the biggest fans, while Miss Bongo loves them. I froze all the Italian sausages in single packs, then bought the Jalapeño sausages for the adults. The nice thing is now we can eat what we like, she can eat what she likes and we’re all happy- except my freezer, which is, you guessed it, full of sausages. At least our grocery budget will definitely be lower in the near future!
We’ve been playing an instant win game for Circle K on our phones. We have racked up several rewards- gummies, chips, beef jerky, drinks- even gas discounts! Anything we don’t want or we have won too many of (you can only have so many bags of gummy worms) we’ve been donating to a local college food pantry. It’s nice for us to win free treats and we are enjoying treating the college kids too.
I added to our goal to reflect a few days in London, money for food and for seeing some sights! I also threw in a food estimate for France. There are so many places I want to go in Europe, I was thinking of dividing 2 weeks into seeing three countries. England, France and….this is where I need y’all. What do you think, Germany or Scotland? I’d really love to do both, but I also worry we’ll try to do so much that it will just end up very stressful. Sigh, my kingdom for a winning lottery ticket, friends. Part of me can’t believe I’m even planning this trip at all. Talk about a lifelong dream! At the same time when you end up with $1500 roofing bills out of nowhere, it makes you wonder if you’ll really get there at all.
Next week I’m hoping to have a hard goal number! We’ll see how it goes.
Earnings! I’ve got a new site- Prolific. It pays in GBP (British pounds) and has been wonderful for me! It was my highest earner, I’ve consistently been earning big money with it and it’s easy. Mercari continues to be a top earner for me as well- I am always shocked at what sells, so don’t think “oh no, I don’t have anything people would want to buy.” Y’all- I’m not a designer clothes and bag type person. You never know, as you spring clean put back a box of good condition items and see what happens!
